Flat plate transducer
A flat plate audio transducer. A front panel and a back panel are connected via a frame. One or more electromagnetic actuators are mounted between the two panels. Voice coils are used as the actuators in some embodiments. Stiffening braces are preferably run between groups of actuators to prevent unwanted resonance phenomena. In some embodiments an actuator array moves both the front and back panels. In other embodiments only one panel is moved.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR MEASURING AND TRACKING EAR CHARACTERISTICS
A method performed by a headset that includes a speaker and an in-ear microphone, the method includes performing a calibration on the headset to obtain a baseline measurement; using, while the headset is being worn by a user, an audio signal to drive the speaker that is arranged to project sound into a canal of a user's ear; capturing as a microphone signal, from the in-ear microphone of the headset, sound from within the canal of the user's ear; determining a parameter associated with the user's ear based at least on the captured microphone signal and the baseline measurement; and transmitting a notification related to one or more characteristics of one or more hearing elements of the user's ear based on the parameter.
Noise cancellation using segmented, frequency-dependent phase cancellation
Noise abatement within a signal stream containing unwanted signal referred to as noise is performed by acquiring a digitized noise signal and using a digital processor circuit to subdivide the acquired noise signal into different frequency band segments and thereby generate a plurality of segmented noise signals. Then individually for each segmented noise signal, the processor shifts in time the segmented noise signal by an amount dependent on a selected frequency of the segmented noise signal to produce a plurality of shifted segmented noise signals. The precise time shift applied to each noise segment considers the frequency content of the segment and the system processing time. Individually for each segmented noise signal, amplitude scaling is applied. The shifted and amplitude-scaled segmented noise signals are then combined to form a composite anti-noise signal which is output into the signal stream to abate the noise through destructive interference.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR AUDIO SIGNAL PROCESSING SELECTION
A method and an apparatus for audio signal processing selection are provided. In the method, multiple audio signal processing operations are performed on a synthesized audio signal to generate multiple processed audio signals, the audio signal processing operations are evaluated according to the comparison results between the processed audio signals and the primary signal, and the audio signal processing operation corresponding to a designated application and the designated audio output mode is selected according to the evaluation result of the audio signal processing operations. The synthesized audio signal is generated by adding a secondary signal into a primary signal. The signal processing is related to remove the secondary signal from the synthesized audio signal. Those processed audio signals are used by the designated application at the designated audio output mode. The comparison result is related to signal similarity. The evaluation result is related to the highest signal similarity.
WAVE-DOMAIN APPROACH FOR CANCELLING NOISE ENTERING AN APERTURE
An apparatus for providing active noise control, includes: one or more microphones configured to detect sound entering through an aperture of a building structure; a set of speakers configured to provide sound output for cancelling or reducing at least some of the sound; and a processing unit communicatively coupled to the set of speakers, wherein the processing unit is configured to provide control signals to operate the speakers, wherein the control signals are independent of an error-microphone output.
ACTIVE NOISE CANCELLATION SYSTEM AND METHOD WITH TIME DIVISION MULTIPLEXING
In at least one embodiment, an active noise cancellation system. The system includes a first controller, a data bus, and a second controller. The first controller receives first information from a plurality of noise sensing devices and second information from an audio system. The first controller employs a time division multiplexing scheme to generate a multiplexed stream of data including the first information and the second information. The data bus transmits the multiplexed stream of data on a single data channel. The second controller receives the multiplexed stream of data on the single data channel and separates the first information from the second information on the multiplexed stream of data to perform ANC functionality.
Drying apparatus and related noise suppression methods
A body dryer includes an airflow generator to generate a flow of air, an inlet to pass air from the surroundings to the airflow generator, an outlet to vent the air from the airflow generator, a body, and a movable bar, the bar supported by the body. A drive assembly is provided between the body and the bar, the bar movably driven relative to the body. A noise cancellation device is provided to cancel or reduce noise in at least one of the airflow generator and the drive assembly.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR COMMUNICATING INFORMATION
Systems and methods for communicating information related to a wearable device are disclosed. Exemplary information includes audio information.
In-ear speaker hybrid audio transparency system
A user content audio signal is converted into sound that is delivered into an ear canal of a wearer of an in-ear speaker, while the in-ear speaker is sealing off the ear canal against ambient sound leakage. An acoustic or venting valve in the in-ear speaker is automatically signaled to open, so that sound inside the ear canal is allowed to travel out into an ambient environment through the valve, while activating conversion of an ambient content audio signal into sound for delivery into the ear canal. Both user content and ambient content are heard by the wearer. The ambient content audio signal is digitally processed so that certain frequency components have been gain adjusted, based on an equalization profile, so as to compensate for some of the insertion loss that is due to the in-ear speaker blocking the ear canal. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.
Sound generation device and applications
An audio system includes at least one sound generation device having at least an acoustic transducer; and an electronic integrated circuit. A communication bus is connected to the at least one sound generation device and is configured to communicate a digital signal comprised of one or more audio streams and control signals. A power bus is connected to the at least one sound generation device. The acoustic transducer includes at least one of the following groups: a membrane and an acoustic modulator; or a membrane, acoustic resonator, and acoustic coupler. The electronic integrated circuit is constructed and arranged to receive the digital signal and generate an analog electric signal to operate the acoustic transducer to generate an audio signal in accordance with the control signal.
