Suit type exoskeleton adjustable to user's body size and suit type exoskeleton for knee power assistance
A suit type exoskeleton adjustable to a user's body size includes a wire, a wearing portion worn on a part of the user's body to assist with physical strength, a controller removably coupled to an outer surface of the wearing portion and coupled to an end of the wire, and a driver coupled to an opposite end of the wire and configured to provide power to the wire. A suit type exoskeleton for knee power assistance is characterized by use of the suit type exoskeleton which is adjustable to a user's body size for their knee.
Apparatus for treating lower limb contractures
An apparatus for treating lower limb contractures is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a pair of multi-sectional soles, which are movably affixed to a connector via a pair of arms using fasteners. The pair of soles are configured to support the user's feet. Each sole comprises four flat-solid plates, which are pivotally connected via hinges/fasteners. The four flat-solid plates are configured to cover, support, and align the user's feet. The apparatus further comprises a pair of ankle supports, securely and adjustably affixed to each sole, configured to support the user's ankle and lower leg. The plurality of straps is configured to secure the sole to the user's feet and lower leg while lifting and lowering the feet using additional straps that are coupled to one or more loops of the four-flat solid plates of the soles, thereby treating the limb contractures by facilitating the opportunity for the repetitive movement of every single joint and muscle in the lower limb of a the user.
Assistive flexible suits, flexible suit systems, and methods for making and control thereof to assist human mobility
In at least some aspects, the present concepts include a method for configuring an assistive flexible suit including the acts of outfitting a person with an assistive flexible suit, monitoring an output of at least one sensor of the assistive flexible suit as the person moves in a first controlled movement environment, identifying at least one predefined gait event using the output of the at least one sensor, adjusting an actuation profile of the at least one actuator and continuing to perform the acts of monitoring, identifying and adjusting until an actuation profile of the at least one actuator generates a beneficial moment about the at least one joint to promote an improvement in gait. The at least one controller is then set to implement the actuation profile.
Device for isolated static stretching of the gastrocnemius (calf) muscle
A calf-stretching device enables a user to conduct stretching exercises of the gastrocnemius muscles of the leg. The calf-stretching device includes a support base positionable on a floor surface and left and right surfaces immovably attached to the support base. Each of the left and right surfaces present a convex curved surface from a front side to a back side to receive respective feet of the user, the convex curved surface having a greater radial dimension on an inner portion than an outer portion to correspond to a foot arch of the user.
REHABILITATION EXERCISE DEVICE FOR UPPER AND LOWER LIMBS
Proposed is a rehabilitation exercise device for upper and lower limbs. The rehabilitation exercise device is characterized by including: a first support supporting a user's hand or foot; a second support supporting a user's forearm or calf; a pair of first hinges rotatably connecting the first support and the second support to each other; a third support supporting a user's upper arm or thigh; a pair of second hinges rotatably connecting the second support and the third support to each other; and a drive module selectively mounted on any one of the pair of first hinges and the pair of second hinges, and configured to pivot the first support or the second support.
Method and apparatus for providing economical, portable deficit-adjusted adaptive assistance during movement phases of an impaired ankle
A method is described for providing deficit-adjusted adaptive assistance during movement phases of an impaired ankle. The method includes determining, on the processor, a value for a deficit parameter for each movement phase of a compound ankle function based on a difference between a parameter trace for a normal subject and the parameter trace for an impaired subject. The method further includes determining, on the processor, an adaptive magnitude for the robot-applied torque based on the value for the deficit parameter. The method further includes applying, to the robot joint, the adaptive magnitude for the robot-applied torque in only a first plane for the current movement phase, based on an adaptive timing. An apparatus is also described for providing deficit-adjusted adaptive assistance during movement phases of the impaired ankle.
Patient-Worn Therapeutic Apparatus
A patient-worn therapeutic apparatus that includes a boot, a plate, and a selectively inflatable bladder. The boot is configured to accommodate a patient's foot and the plate is pivotally disposed within the boot. By one approach the pivot point is disposed proximal to the foot's arch when the patient's foot is accommodated by the boot. The selectively inflatable bladder is disposed on an underside of the plate and is configured to cause the plate to selectively pivot the patient's foot towards the patient when the patient's foot is accommodated by the boot.
FLUID STIMULATION METHODS AND DEVICES FOR TREATING FLUID OVERLOAD
Methods for treating fluid overload in a subject comprise shifting fluids directly and non-invasively from an interstitial compartment of the subject to skin of the subject through controlled local sweating. Methods of the invention allow for removal of excess fluid from the interstitial compartment of the subject and treat fluid overload in the subject. Sweat stimulation systems comprise a chamber and first and second relative humidity sensors. The chamber is sized to fit around a body part of a subject, comprises an inlet and an outlet, and is configured such that air flows through the chamber from the inlet to the outlet. The first relative humidity sensor is operably located inside the inlet, and the second relative humidity sensor is operably located proximate the outlet.
Calf Stretcher and Measuring Device
This application discloses a calf stretching and measuring device and a calf stretching and measuring method. The method and device pertain to a person. The device secures to a person such that a therapist may apply pressure on an extension to cause the person's calf muscle to stretch. The device is secured to the calf and foot of a person. The calf stretching method is a method in which a physical therapist or other person may use the calf stretching device.
CALF STRETCHING APPARATUS
A calf stretching apparatus includes a plate and a side wall upwardly extending from the top surface of the plate and disposed along the perimeter edges of the plate. Each of the plurality of side walls has a different height and is disposed proximate a respective perimeter edge of the plate. The plurality of side walls defines an inner space between inside surfaces of each of the plurality of side walls and the top surface of the plate.
