INSPECTION APPARATUS

An object is to increase an efficiency of removing carbon dioxide derived from inorganic carbon. An inspection apparatus includes: a column that separates a group of substances contained in an aqueous sample by size; an addition unit that adds a reagent, which acidifies the aqueous sample, into a channel; a degassing unit provided downstream of the addition unit for degassing carbon dioxide; a measurement unit that measures organic carbon contained in each substance from which the carbon dioxide has been removed; and a temperature maintaining unit that maintains a temperature of each of the column and a container in which a gas-permeable tube of the degassing unit is housed.

Techniques for thermally insulating a chromatographic column

Apparatus and methods for performing chromatography may include a chromatography column and a vacuum insulated jacket having an inner wall and an outer wall. A vacuum area may be formed between the inner wall and the outer wall. The inner wall of the vacuum insulated jacket may surround the chromatography column. A gap may be formed between an outer wall of the chromatography column and the inner wall of the vacuum insulated jacket. The vacuum insulated jacket may extend beyond one or more end frits of the column. The gap may be filled with one or more materials so as to form an insulating or thermal barrier.

Gas Chromatography System and Method

A system or method for gas chromatography has a spool member constructed from a base section and a cover plate. The base portion has a base plate section connected to a wall section. The base plate section and the wall section define a hollow cavity for receiving a fluid. The cover plate is attachable to the base section to seal the cavity. A heating device is attached to and maintains thermal contact with an exterior surface of the spool member. Inlet and outlet ports disposed in the cover plate are in fluid communication with the cavity for introducing a fluid coolant source. Thermally conductive tubes are in thermal contact with an exterior surface of the wall section for transferring heat to a fluid column of analyte within the conductive tubes. The spool member is heated with the heating device during a gas chromatography heating cycle.

Techniques for thermally insulating a liquid chromatographic column

An apparatus for performing liquid chromatography includes a chromatography column, and an insulating member surrounding the chromatography column wherein the insulating member is formed from a vacuum chamber surrounding the chromatography column. Another apparatus for performing liquid chromatography includes a chromatography column, and an insulating member surrounding the chromatography column, wherein the insulating member includes aerogel. Also described is a method of insulating a chromatography column comprising forming a jacket surrounding the chromatography column, and creating a vacuum chamber in an area between the jacket and the chromatography column.

THERMAL ISOLATION CHAMBERS AND CHROMATOGRAPHY SYSTEMS INCLUDING THEM

Thermal isolation chambers that can be used to heat or cool a chromatography column are described. Certain configurations include at least one plate and an insulative barrier. The plate and insulative barrier can form a cyclical air flow path such that air in the cyclical air flow path can be provided to a chromatography column to remove heat from the chromatography column. The heat can be transferred to the plate. Systems including the thermal isolation chambers, and methods of using the thermal isolation chambers to perform chromatographic separations are also described.

Forced convection heater

A heating assembly includes a heater extending in a longitudinal direction from a first end to a second end. Heat transfer fins are thermally coupled to the heater and extend in a direction transverse to the longitudinal direction. An airflow component is positioned proximate one of the first and second end and is configured to generate airflow along the plurality of heat transfer fins toward the other of the first and second end.

Refrigerant introducer and gas chromatograph

A controller includes a temperature prediction unit. The temperature prediction unit predicts, on the assumption that a refrigerant is fed from a refrigerant feeder, an internal temperature of a column oven based on time interval information and decrement information in a memory. Thus, the temperature prediction unit can accurately predict the internal temperature of the column oven when the refrigerant is fed from the refrigerant feeder. If the refrigerant is fed from the refrigerant feeder when the predicted internal temperature of the column oven is suitable for the analysis operation, the internal temperature of the column oven can be brought closer to an appropriate temperature. As a result, the internal temperature of the column oven can be controlled with precision.
