Eyelid cleaning tool
A hand-held device for home use is disclosed for cleaning eyelids, eye margins and eye lashes. The device includes a housing, which forms a handle, and a cleaning head, attached on one end. In accordance with an important aspect of the invention, a vibration generator is used to drive the cleaning head sonically. The sonically driven cleaning head is placed in contact with one or both eye lids for each eye and either held in a stationary position or moved from side to side or back and forth. The vibration of the cleaning head in contact with the soap and effectively scrubs the upper eyelid or lower eyelid without the need for vigorous scrubbing or significant agility. The vibrating cleaning head is a more effective daily home cleaning tool for eyelids and eyelashes than known devices with rotary swabs or sponges.
EYE-TRAINING APPARATUS AND METHODS FOR MODIFYING VISUAL INPUT TO THE BRAIN
An apparatus for modifying the visual input to the brain from a non-dominant eye is provided. The apparatus includes an electrically controllable optical window that is coupled with a controller. The controller is positioned to establish a voltage across the electrically controllable optical window, remove a voltage across the electrically controllable optical window, vary a voltage across the electrically controllable optical window, or combinations thereof. The optical transparency of the electrically controllable optical window is responsive to voltage across the electrically controllable optical window.
SYSTEM, METHOD, AND APPARATUS FOR MASSAGING THE EYELID
An apparatus massages an eyelid to move meibum unidirectionally through a meibomian gland duct toward a gland duct orifice at the eyelid margin in order to clear meibum blockage in the gland duct. The apparatus is configured to cyclically apply pressure to an application area of the eyelid, to move the applied pressure in a flow direction toward the gland duct orifice, and release the pressure applied to the application area of the eyelid. The apparatus includes an elongated massage arm configured to support a massage tip, which is configured to apply the pressure to the application area of the eyelid. A cam is rotatable about an axis of rotation and includes a cam surface. A follower includes a follower surface in sliding engagement with the cam surface. The follower is configured to impart massaging motion to the massage arm in response to rotation of the cam. The cam surface has a constant width curve configuration. The cam is configured so that a center of the cam surface is offset from the axis of rotation of the cam.
VISION IMPROVING DEVICE
The present disclosure describes a vision training device with high training efficiency for the ciliary muscle. In an example, a vision training device includes a housing having at least one eyepiece unit corresponding to an eye of a user, a display that displays a target image in front of a fixation axis of the user, a lens arranged between the eyepiece unit and the display unit, a movable unit capable of moving at least one of the display and the lens along the fixation axis, and a control unit that sets at least one training range within a movable range of the display and the lens and controls the movable unit such that at least one of the display and the lens is moved within the training range.
SURGICAL INSTRUMENT AND METHOD FOR GONIOTOMY PROCEDURE
An ophthalmic surgical instrument includes an instrument hand grip portion having an elongated configuration with proximal and distal ends, and a tip portion extending from the distal end. The tip portion has the form of an elastomeric element having a base secured to the distal end of the hand grip portion and a free end extending from the base. The free end is configured for massaging the trabecular meshwork and outer wall of the canal of Schlemm in the eye to improve aqueous outflow for the reduction of intraocular pressure.
DRY EYE TREATMENT APPARATUS AND METHODS
Dry eye treatment apparatus and methods are described herein which generally comprise a patch or strip affixed to the skin of the upper and/or lower eyelids to deliver heat or other forms of energy, pressure, drugs, moisture, etc. (alone or in combination) to the one or more meibomian glands contained within the underlying skin. The treatment strip or strips include one or more strips configured to adhere to an underlying region of skin in proximity to one or both eyes of a subject such that the one or more strips allow for the subject to blink naturally without restriction from the one or more patches. Moreover, the one or more strips may be configured to emit energy to the underlying region of skin and where the one or more strips are shaped to follow a location of one or more meibomiam glands contained within the underlying region of skin.
THERAPEUTIC EYE TREATMENT WITH GASES
An apparatus to maintain an environment over an anterior surface of a patient eye can include an enclosure sized and shaped to be seated about the patient eye to form a cavity within the enclosure. The enclosure can be configured to contain a fluid other than ambient air in contact with the patient eye. The apparatus can include a fluid regulator in communication with the enclosure, where the fluid regulator can be configured to regulate the composition of the fluid contained within the enclosure.
Portable Eye Washing Station
A portable eye washing station includes a spike that can pierce a fluid source and the spike is hollow to pass fluid therethrough. A feed tube is fluidly coupled to the spike to receive the fluid from the spike. A fitting is fluidly coupled to the second end of the feed tube and the fitting has a pair of outputs to pass the fluid therethrough. A distribution tube is fluidly coupled to each of the outputs on the fitting such that the distribution tube forms a closed loop for wearing around a user's head. A cannula is fluidly coupled to the distribution tube to release the fluid and the cannula has a pair of outlets. Each of the outlets is aligned with a respective one of the user's eyes when the distribution tube is worn around the user's head. Thus, each of the outlets directs the fluid into the user's eyes for flushing the user's eyes.
METHOD FOR FACILITATING PINHOLE EFFECT AND TOOL TO MANIPULATE EYELASH SPACING FOR PINHOLE EFFECT
A method of compensating for a refractive error, including manipulating eyelashes to project into a line of sight of an eye at least when an eyelid from which the eyelashes extend is partially closed or when the eye is moved relative to the eyelid. The method may further include manipulating at least one of spacing, orientation, direction, contour or shape of the eyelashes to create an optical effect that improves visual acuity when the eyelashes project into the line of sight and training an individual whose eyelashes are manipulated to position the eyelid from which the eyelashes extend, the eye or both the eyelid and the eye from which the eyelashes extend to achieve relative positioning of the eye and the eyelid to obtain the optical effect that improves visual acuity when desired.
RETINA MASSAGE AND SMOOTHING DEVICE
Particular embodiments disclosed herein provide a retina massage and smoothing device. In certain embodiments, the device comprises a tip configured to be used for manipulating a surface of a retina inside an eye, and a shaft coupled to the tip, the shaft having a proximal end configured to be coupled to a handle, wherein the shaft is further configured to be at least partially housed by an outer tube of the handle.
