Biosensor using cell that expresses chemosensory receptor that can detect sugar, and alzheimer's disease diagnostic apparatus comprising same

The present invention relates to a biosensor that uses a cell that expresses a chemosensory receptor that can detect sugar, and an Alzheimer's disease diagnostic apparatus comprising the same. The biosensor and the Alzheimer's disease diagnostic apparatus of the present invention can sensitively detect a particular sugar in a sample, more inexpensively and more quickly, by fixing a drosophila cell having an over-expressed target sensory receptor protein on the cell surface through genetic engineering, and can thereby be efficaciously used for diagnosing Alzheimer's disease.

Screening Method for Client Protein-Protecting Protein, and Physiologically Active Protein-Stabilizing Protein and Pharmaceutical Composition Comprising Said Protein

Provided herein is a novel screening method for a client protein-protecting protein, and a physiologically active protein-stabilizing protein and a pharmaceutical composition using the protein. Also provided herein is a method for screening for a client protein-protecting protein, including the step of evaluating stability of a client protein in the presence of a protein having an intrinsically disordered structure. Also provided herein is an agent for stabilizing a physiologically active protein comprising, as an active ingredient, a protein having any one of amino acid sequences of SEQ ID NOs: 1 to 6; and a pharmaceutical composition including the protein and a physiologically active protein.

Methods, systems, and devices for an invertebrate model of traumatic brain injury

Described herein are methods, systems, and devices for identifying agents and genetic pathways that modulate the effects of traumatic brain injury (TBI) in invertebrate model systems having a brain, e.g., Drosophila or C. elegans.

FLY AVATARS FOR CANCER AND USES THEREOF

The invention relates to improved methods for treating a human subject diagnosed with cancer using combination drug regimens tailored to the genome/proteome/phenome of the subject's turn or/cancer. The treatment regimens are selected and/or their efficacy is confirmed using an animal model avatar, preferably a transgenic Drosophila avatar, of the genome/proteome/phenome of the subject. In certain embodiments, avatar armies representing the genomes/proteomes/phenomes of a population of patients diagnosed with a disease or disorder can be used to screen and select therapeutic regimens for treatment and/or to screen for new lead compounds and identify new therapeutics for the disease or disorder.

Methods for determining modulators of insect transient receptor potential V (TRPV) channel

The present invention relates to a screening method for determining whether or not a candidate compound is a modulator of an insect transient receptor potential V (TRPV) channel. The present invention further provides a method of insect control by applying to an insect-specific TRPV channel modulator determined by the screening method. The present invention further relates to an expression vector that includes a nucleic acid molecule coding for an insect TRPV channel. Also, the present invention relates to cell that includes the expression vector encoding a TRPV channel.

The invention provides a screening method for identifying an insect-specific TRPA1 modulator by comparing modulation of an insect TRPA1 and a mammalian TRPA1. The invention further provides method of insect control by applying to an insect a insect-specific TRPA1 modulator identified by the screening method.

Methods for identifying arthropod repellents based on modulation of specific ionotropic receptors, and compounds and compositions identified by such methods

Provided herein are screening methods for identifying arthropod repellent compounds based on modulation of ionotropic receptors, including an Ir40a receptor, an Ir93a receptor and an Ir25a receptor. Further provided are screening systems related to these methods. Such systems may include a sample that has one or more of the ionotropic receptors; and one or more compounds that each is a repellent for at least one arthropod species, wherein the one or more compound each modulates the activity of such ionotropic receptor(s). Further provided are one or more compounds identified using the screening methods described herein, and compositions containing such compounds.
