A device for selectively reflecting an incident microwave signal or millimeter-wave signal includes multiple antennae disposed in an array. Each antenna has an input adapted to selectively receive a forward bias signal or a zero bias signal. The device also includes a diode disposed at each input of each antenna. The device also includes a switching device connected to each input, and configured to selectively apply a forward bias or zero bias to each of the diodes. In forward bias, each of the antennae detects the incident microwave signal or millimeter wave signal, and in zero bias, each of the antennae reflects the incident microwave signal or millimeter wave signal.

A radar target simulator for simulating radar targets is provided. The radar target simulator has an analogue-to-digital converter having a first clock generator and a digital-to-analogue converter having a second clock generator. The analogue-to-digital converter is configured to receive a radar signal transmitted by a radar system as an input signal, while the digital-to-analogue converter is configured to return an output signal to the radar system for simulation of the radar target. Further, the first and the second clock generator are configured to operate the analogue-to-digital converter and the digital-to-analogue converter at a different sampling rate in each case.

The radar scenario simulator receives radar signals from the device under test via the antennas to simulate the radar scenario(s) by manipulating the radar signals according to the radar scenario(s), generates resulting manipulated radar signals, and transmits the manipulated radar signals to the device under test via the antennas. The memory contains storage contents including storage cells, wherein each storage cell corresponds to the respective antenna of the at least two antennas.

Automotive radar alignment

A method and apparatus for determining misalignment of a radar sensor unit mounted to a vehicle includes providing targets on an alignment apparatus. A vehicle is located at predetermined location on a test station an exact given distance from the alignment apparatus. The actual locations and distances of the targets from each other and from radar sensor unit of the vehicle at the test station are known and pre-stored. At least one target is a greater distance from the vehicle than the other targets. The targets receive and return a radar wave from the radar sensor unit. The radar sensor unit determines locations and distances of the targets and compares with the given or actual locations and distances of the targets to determine misalignment of the radar sensor unit. A calibration program automatically calibrates azimuth and elevation to adjust for misalignment.
