Ultra-wideband intelligent sensing system and method
A system and method is disclosed where an operating state may be determined by selecting one or more transmitting nodes for transmitting one or more radio-frequency (RF) signals. One or more receiving nodes may receive the one or more RF signals that may include one or more channel state data. The operating state may be determined based on one or more features extracted from the one or more channel state data. Another system and method is disclosed where a range compensation value may be determined by transmitting a radio-frequency (RF) signal from at least one transmitting node. The one or more receiving nodes may receive the RF signal and a channel state data may be estimated using the signal. The range compensation value may be determined using the channel state data and a position value indicating a location of the at least one transmitting node.
Low-Power Vehicle Sentinel Systems And Methods
Low-power vehicle sentinel systems and methods are disclosed herein. An example method includes obtaining electromagnetic signals in a target area surrounding a vehicle. The electromagnetic signals can be obtained from electromagnetic elements mounted to the vehicle. The method can include determining attributes or behaviors of an object in the target area based on the electromagnetic signals and executing a response measure based on the attributes or behaviors of the object.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR OPERATING RADAR
A radio detection and ranging (radar) operating apparatus includes: radar sensors configured to receive signals reflected from an object; and a processor configured to generate Doppler maps for the radar sensors based on the reflected signals and estimate a time difference between the radar sensors based on the generated Doppler maps.

A radio detection and ranging (radar) operating apparatus includes: radar sensors configured to receive signals reflected from an object; and a processor configured to generate Doppler maps for the radar sensors based on the reflected signals and estimate a time difference between the radar sensors based on the generated Doppler maps.

A controller for a communication and ranging apparatus wherein the apparatus is configured to transmit both a data signal and a ranging signal, wherein the controller is configured to: determine a scheduled transmission event of the data signal; determine a scheduled transmission event of the ranging signal; determine if the scheduled transmission events will occur within a predetermined time window of each other; if it is determined that the scheduled transmission events will occur within a predetermined time window of each other, then determine a priority signal and a secondary signal, wherein: the priority signal is one of the data signal and the ranging signal; and the secondary signal is the other of the data signal and the ranging signal; and provide signaling configured to prevent the scheduled transmission event of the secondary signal from being transmitted such that only the scheduled transmission event of the priority signal is transmitted.
CONTROLLER FOR A COMMUNICATION AND RANGING APPARATUS
A controller for a communication and ranging apparatus wherein the apparatus is configured to transmit both a data signal and a ranging signal, wherein the controller is configured to: determine a scheduled transmission event of the data signal; determine a scheduled transmission event of the ranging signal; determine if the scheduled transmission events will occur within a predetermined time window of each other; if it is determined that the scheduled transmission events will occur within a predetermined time window of each other, then determine a priority signal and a secondary signal, wherein: the priority signal is one of the data signal and the ranging signal; and the secondary signal is the other of the data signal and the ranging signal; and provide signaling configured to prevent the scheduled transmission event of the secondary signal from being transmitted such that only the scheduled transmission event of the priority signal is transmitted.
Radar apparatus
A radar apparatus includes a transmitting array antenna that transmits signals orthogonal to one another from a plurality of transmitting antennas, a receiving array antenna that receives the signals reflected from a target by a plurality of receiving antennas, and a signal processing unit that detects the target from reception signals received by the plurality of receiving antennas. The signal processing unit includes a correlation matrix calculation unit that determines a first correlation matrix corresponding to the transmitting array antenna and a second correlation matrix corresponding to the receiving array antenna, on the basis of the reception signals separated by a separation unit, and a detection unit that detects the target on the basis of an evaluation value calculated using eigenvectors of the first correlation matrix and the second correlation matrix.
METHOD FOR ROBUST VEHICLE OCCUPANCY DETECTION WITH VITAL SIGN MONITORING
A radar sensor system and a method for detecting an occupancy in an interior of a vehicle and with vital sign monitoring. The radar sensor system includes a radar transmitting unit, a radar receiving unit and a signal processing and control unit. The method includes: transmitting a radar wave towards a scene within the vehicle interior, receiving at least one radar wave that has been generated by reflection of the transmitted radar wave, decomposing the received radar wave into range, Doppler and angular information, quantifying and tracking a movement in each region of interest by angular gating and range gating, detecting and monitoring vital signs of occupants in each region of interest, and determining whether quantified and tracked movements in the scene are related to an occupant or to external or internal disturbances, based on a fulfillment of at least one predefined condition concerning the and/or the detected vital signs.
SIGNAL PROCESSING APPARATUS AND SIGNAL PROCESSING METHOD
Based on a reception signal of a reflected wave of pulsed undulation repeatedly transmitted into a space, a Doppler spectrum derived from the reception signal, and a topographic-echo-removed spectrum resulting from removal of a topographic echo from the Doppler spectrum, a first weather echo region is found by using a weather parameter among weather parameters that is different in behavior between a weather echo and the topographic echo, and a second weather echo region is found by using a weather parameter among the weather parameters a behavior of which is not dependent on a Doppler velocity. The weather echo region is determined based on the first weather echo region and the second weather echo region. A signal processing apparatus and a signal processing method with which a zero-Doppler weather echo attenuated, that is, erroneously suppressed, by topographic echo removal processing is readily reconstructed are thus obtained.
METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR BLIND RANGE RECOVERY ON PULSE COMPRESSION RADARS
Methods, systems and non-transitory computer readable mediums for processing radar signals to recover signals inside a blind region are disclosed. A transmission signal is transmitted from a radar system. The radar system receives a return signal. The return signal includes a first portion of the transmission signal leaked during transmission and a second portion reflected from an object within the blind region. The return signal is partially decoded by zeroing out the first portion of the transmission signal to form a modified return signal. Pulse compression is performed over the modified return signal to form a compressed return signal. The compressed return signal is processed to calculate moment products. The moment products are calibrated with a calibration factor, wherein the calibration factor is multiplied against only calculated moment products of range gates which have been partially decoded.
