A backlight module and a display device are provided. The backlight module includes a light guide plate, a light source and a first prism film. The light guide plate includes a main body and plural oblique microstructures. The main body has a light-incident surface and at least one main surface connected to the light-incident surface. The main surface has a first area and a second area. The oblique microstructures are disposed in the first area. Each of the oblique microstructures has a first slope. A light source is disposed adjacent to the light-incident surface. The first prism film is disposed in front of the light guide plate. The first prism film has plural first prism microstructures. Each of the first prism microstructures has a second slope. One of the first slope and the second slope is a positive number, and the other one is a negative number.

DISPLAY

The present invention has an object of providing a display that makes uniform brightnesses of a display image in a plane of a display panel according to a position of an observer. The display includes a display panel, a surface light source panel that emits light toward a back surface of the display panel, a sensor that senses a position of an observer with respect to the display panel, and a controller, wherein a brightness can be adjusted for each of areas of the surface light source panel, and the controller adjusts respective brightnesses of the areas of the surface light source panel so that brightnesses of a display image in a plane of the display panel are made uniform, when the display panel is observed from the position of the observer sensed by the sensor.

A light guide plate includes: a depressed portion provided on an opposite side of a light exit surface from which light is emitted; a first direction changing portion which is provided inside the depressed portion and above a light emitting element in a direction oriented toward the light exit surface, the light emitting element being provided on the opposite side of the light exit surface, and which changes a direction of travel of at least a part of light of the light emitting element; and a second direction changing portion which is provided above the light emitting element and higher than the light exit surface and which changes a direction of travel of at least a part of light of the light emitting element.

The light extraction area has a two-dimensional pattern light extraction microstructures formed in a surface of the waveguide. The light-emitting surface of LED packages is oriented perpendicular to a major surface of the flexible printed circuit and has a first dimension which is greater than the thickness of the waveguide. The LED strip may be directly or indirectly attached or bonded to a front or back surface of the waveguide.

The substrate has a first surface and a second surface along a thickness direction of the substrate. The first surface and the second surface are both continuous. The first surface has at least one light incident surface in the edge area. A light source is opposed to or in contact with the light incident surface to provide the substrate with light through the light incident surface.
