Feeding system for gastric tube patients
A feeding system for medical patients comprises a storage assembly, dispensing assembly, and extension set including, in part, a reservoir, a pump, a feeding tube, a check valve and an adapter. The reservoir is configured to hold at least one feeding of nutritional substance. The dispensing assembly is connected to the storage assembly and pumps the at least one feeding of nutritional substance from the reservoir to the feeding tube connected to an outlet of the pump. The check valve unit is connected to a second end of the feeding tube by means of a check valve connection point and is configured to allow the flow of nutritional substance in only one direction. The at least one feeding of nutritional substance is passed through the adapter unit connected to the check valve unit.
Insertion device positioning guidance system and method
A system and a method for an insertion device positioning guidance system comprising: an electromagnetic field generator configured to generate an electromagnetic field covering a treatment area; a plate sensor configured to be positioned within the treatment area in a location defining an orientation of a subject; a reference sensor configured to be positioned, within the treatment area, on the subject's torso, the reference sensor is configured to define a reference coordinate system representing the position and orientation of the subject's torso relative to said field generator; a registration sensor configured to mark at least a first and a second anatomic locations relative to the reference coordinate system; and a processor configured to operate said field generator, read signals obtained from said the plate sensor, said reference sensor and said registration sensor, calculate a position and orientation thereof relative to said field generator, generate a 3D anatomic map representing the torso of the subject and the first and second anatomic locations, said processor is further configured to facilitate visualization on the 3D anatomic map of a position, orientation and/or path of a tip sensor, located in a distal tip section of the insertion device, with respect to the first and second anatomic locations, independent of the subject's movement and independent of deviations in the position and/or orientation of said field generator, thus determination of a successful medical procedure is facilitated.
Disposable Tubing Set for an Enteral Feeding System
The present specification is directed to systems, devices, and methods of portable enteral pump systems for feeding and/or flushing an ambulatory patient. Embodiments provide an enteral pumping device that may be loaded by a patient from a front and a top side of the pumping device and is therefore more convenient to use. Further, embodiments incorporate a single rotor pump for dual-use purposes of feeding nutrients and flushing fluids to the patient. A pinch valve is placed between the parallel sides of the two tubes to cut off fluid flow when required. At least one sensor is also placed between the rotor pump and an outlet. The sensors are used to detect occlusions and the type of disposables used, among other purposes.
Medical imaging system and device
A patient monitoring, feeding, and mechanical breathing system, the system including an endotracheal probe including a first longitudinal member connected to a first camera and a semi-rigid longitudinal member inserted in an ET tube such that the first camera is aligned with a tip of the ET tube; an OG probe including a second longitudinal member configured to be inserted in an oral gastro (OG) tube, the second longitudinal member including a side camera, configured to be placed facing a window of the OG tube, wherein the side camera includes a tapered side; an enhanced OG probe, including a second camera and a motion sensor placed at the tip of the enhanced OG tube; a device communicatively coupled to the endotracheal, OG and enhanced OG probes, and having a screen configured to display images from any of the first camera, the side camera, and the second camera.
Flow detection system for flow control apparatus
A flow control apparatus and method for accurate detection of occlusion conditions in a feeding set. A sensor is arranged with respect to a pumping device to produce a signal indicative of pressure in the feeding set. A control circuit that may receive the sensor signal from the sensor indicative of the pressure in the feeding set may also control operation of the pumping device. The control circuit is configured to operate the pumping device in an operational state, and in a reset state subsequent to the operational state in which the pumping device does not produce a pumping action and the pumping device is moved to a position in which the pumping device does not block the feeding set to permit fluid flow in a backflow direction opposite to the patient direction thereby relieving any built up pressure in the feeding set downstream of the pumping device.
ACOUSTIC REFLECTOMETRY DEVICE IN CATHETERS
A device and method for verifying the proper position of catheters in the body by means of acoustic reflectometry, the device including a sound source, one or more sound receivers, a tube with compliant walls and open distal end to be introduced through an entrance to a body cavity, the sound source and receiver(s) coupled to the proximal end of the tube, a processor for causing the sound source to generate an acoustic excitation signal, the processor processing the acoustic signals sensed by the sound receiver(s) and generating an approximation of the acoustic impulse response of the tube, and the processor analyzing the acoustic impulse response to determine the position of the tube in the body cavity.
System and Method for Medical Device Position Guidance
A medical device position guidance system includes a plurality of noninvasive external detector devices communicable with an invasive medical device. A magnetic field is used to gather information about the anatomical size and shape of a subject, such as a human. The medical device position guidance system further uses the magnetic field to obtain information about the positioning of the invasive medical device relative to the subject's anatomy. A method of using the medical device position guidance system is also provided.
Two-In-One Catheter and Signal Generating Apparatus
A tubing assembly including a signal generating apparatus for a catheter placement system is provided. The tubing assembly includes a catheter and a signal generating apparatus. The catheter includes an elongate shaft having a wall surrounding a lumen. The signal generating apparatus includes at least one electromagnetic coil and at least one electrically conductive polymer that is configured to electrically connect the at least one electromagnetic coil to a monitor unit.
System and Method for Real-Time Humidity and Temperature Sensing to Verify Proper Nasogastric Tube Placement
A tubing assembly for use in conjunction with electronic catheter guidance systems is provided and includes a catheter and a sensor. The catheter extends in a longitudinal direction and has a proximal end and a distal end that define a lumen therebetween. Further, the catheter is configured for placement within a digestive tract of a patient. The sensor includes a temperature sensor, relative humidity sensor, or both, and can be located within the lumen of the catheter or in an air sampling chamber connected to the catheter. The sensor can communicate with a processor to deliver temperature and/or relative humidity readings to a display device. A constant temperature or relative humidity profile, or both after a pre-determined amount of time can indicate placement of the catheter in the digestive tract. A catheter guidance system and a method for accurately placing a catheter in the digestive tract are also provided.
