In an example of the disclosure, an intermediate transfer member cleaning system includes an intermediate transfer member (blanket), an endless cleaning surface, and a pyrolysis station. The blanket is to receive a thermoplastic print agent from a photoconductive element. The endless cleaning surface can be positioned to rotatably engage with the blanket to transfer a residue of the thermoplastic print agent from the blanket to the endless cleaning surface. The endless cleaning surface can be moved away from the blanket to enter a pyrolysis station. The pyrolysis station is for receiving the endless cleaning surface, for heating the endless cleaning surface to convert the residue to ash, and for removing the ash.

An image forming apparatus includes: a developing section that forms a toner image by developing an electrostatic latent image using toner. The toner satisfies the following relations: (ln(T1)ln (T2))/(T1T2)0.14; (ln (T2)ln (T3))/(T2T3)0.15; and (ln (T1)ln (T2))/(T1T2)<(ln (T2)ln (T3))/(T2T3), where (T1) represents a viscosity of the toner at 60 C., (T2) represents a viscosity of the toner at 90 C., and (T3) represents a viscosity of the toner at 130 C.).

A cleaning device includes a scraping portion whose edge is pressed against a rotational body to which toner adheres and that scrapes the toner off the rotational body, and a container that contains the toner that has been scraped off the rotational body. The container has a through-hole that opens in a portion of the container facing the scraping portion and that allows a gas to flow from an inside of the container toward the scraping portion.

A cleaning device includes a scraping portion whose edge is pressed against a rotational body to which toner adheres and that scrapes the toner off the rotational body, and a container that contains the toner that has been scraped off the rotational body. The container has a through-hole that opens in a portion of the container facing the scraping portion and that allows a gas to flow from an inside of the container toward the scraping portion.

An image forming apparatus includes an intermediate transfer belt, a density sensor, a cleaning device and a density correction unit. The intermediate transfer belt carries a calibration toner image. The density sensor detects a density of the calibration toner image that passes at a predetermined position. The cleaning device contacts to a part of the intermediate transfer belt in a primary scanning direction, and removes from the intermediate transfer belt the calibration toner image that passed at the predetermined position. The density correction unit performs density correction of a printing toner image in the primary scanning direction. Further, the density correction unit changes a strength of the density correction for a contact range to which the cleaning device contacts on the intermediate transfer belt, the strength changed in accordance with the number of times of a calibration process.

Disclosed is a heat source for radiating heat onto an intermediate printing material transfer element of a printing apparatus. The heat source comprises a plurality of heat generating segments disposed along an axis, the plurality of heat generating segments including a first heat generating segment, a second heat generating segment and a third heat generating segment. The second heat generating segment is disposed between the first heat generating segment and the third heat generating segment. The second heat generating segment has a length shorter than a length of the first heat generating segment and shorter than a length of the third heat generating segment. Also disclosed is a printing system comprising the disclosed heat source. Also disclosed is a method of selecting a heat radiating pattern of a heat source.

The present invention provides a sponge roller comprising a shaft body and an elastic layer formed on an outer peripheral surface of the shaft body, wherein the elastic layer is formed of a millable silicone rubber, unexpanded microballoon cells and chemical blowing agent cells, and an image forming apparatus comprising the sponge roller. The sponge roller has high durability, excellent surface smoothness and small permanent compression set.

An image formation apparatus includes: an image carrier having a surface on which a toner image is formed; a transfer roller cooperating with a surface of the image carrier to form a nip at a first position in a direction in which the image carrier rotates; a discharging member provided at a second position downstream of the nip in a direction in which the transfer roller rotates; a first power supply that applies a first voltage opposite in polarity to toner to the transfer roller to transfer the toner image to a recording medium when the recording medium is inserted in the nip; and a second power supply that applies a second voltage identical in polarity to the toner to the discharging member to cause an electric discharge to electrically charge the toner on the surface of the transfer roller to electrically attract the toner to the transfer roller.

An image forming apparatus includes a chassis having an opening, a cover, photosensitive members, an intermediate transfer belt, a primary-transfer member, a secondary-transfer roller, a cleaner device, an external-sheet inlet, a waste toner container, a connector, and a conveying roller, which is arranged within the feeding path to feed the recording sheet inserted through the external-sheet inlet in the feeding path. The conveying roller is mounted on the waste toner container and removable from the chassis along with the waste toner container.

A cleaning device includes a cleaning portion including a blade and a blade supporting member having a flat surface portion, and a cleaning frame including a mounting portion, a disposing portion and an accommodating portion. The disposing portion opposes the flat surface portion with a gap with respect to a thickness direction. The accommodating portion is adjacent to respective sides of the disposing portion with respect to a height direction. A distance between the flat surface portion and the accommodating portion with respect to the thickness direction is larger than the gap. The cleaning device includes a sealing member formed of a thermoplastic resin material and configured to seal the gap by a portion extending in a longitudinal direction between the disposing portion and the flat surface portion. A part of the sealing member is accommodated in the accommodating portion.
