An image forming apparatus includes an image transfer belt; a first transfer member; a second transfer member opposed to the first transfer member with the belt therebetween; an applying device for applying a voltage to at least one of the first and second transfer members; and a controller for controlling the applying device to apply to the at least one transfer member a voltage having the same polarity as a regular polarity of toner and a voltage of the opposite polarity to the first transfer member in a cleaning operation. An image forming apparatus includes a chassis having an opening, a cover, photosensitive members, an intermediate transfer belt, a primary-transfer member, a secondary-transfer roller, a cleaner device, an external-sheet inlet, a waste toner container, a connector, and a conveying roller, which is arranged within the feeding path to feed the recording sheet inserted through the external-sheet inlet in the feeding path. The conveying roller is mounted on the waste toner container and removable from the chassis along with the waste toner container.

An image forming apparatus includes a chassis having an opening, a cover, photosensitive members, an intermediate transfer belt, a primary-transfer member, a secondary-transfer roller, a cleaner device, an external-sheet inlet, a waste toner container, a connector, and a conveying roller, which is arranged within the feeding path to feed the recording sheet inserted through the external-sheet inlet in the feeding path. The conveying roller is mounted on the waste toner container and removable from the chassis along with the waste toner container.

A belt device includes a plurality of rollers, a belt stretched and supported around the plurality of rollers, a roller shaft included in one of the plurality of rollers and configured to rotate along with the one of the plurality of rollers, a shaft inclination member slidably supported by the roller shaft, a cleaning member opposed to the one of the plurality of rollers via the belt, a bearing configured to rotatably support the roller shaft, and a support configured to rotatably support the bearing. The shaft inclination member is configured to incline the roller shaft in conjunction with movement in which the belt moves in a width direction of the belt device. The cleaning member is configured to clean the belt. The bearing is configured to stationarily support the cleaning member.

A cleaning device cleans a surface of a toner carrier carrying a toner, and the cleaning device includes: a first blade in contact with the surface of the toner carrier; a second blade made of a material harder than a material of the first blade and in contact with the surface of the toner carrier; and a lubricant applicator that applies a lubricant to the surface of the toner carrier, wherein the first blade, the second blade and the lubricant applicator are arranged in this order from an upstream side in a moving direction of the toner carrier based on a transfer position of the toner.

In accordance with an embodiment, an image forming apparatus comprises a printing setting acquisition section and a printer section. The printing setting acquisition section acquires printing setting information for holding setting at the time of printing for each kind of a sheet. The printer section applies, in a case in which a label paper is selected as the kind of the sheet, a developing agent in the vicinity of an area coming into contact with an end part of the sheet in an area on an image carrier for transferring the developing agent to the sheet, transfers the developing agent by a transfer member for transferring the developing agent from the image carrier to the sheet, and rotates the transfer member at least once.

A belt device includes an endless belt, a support shaft, a contact member, a frame, and a regulating member. The contact member is configured to contact the belt. The support shaft is configured to support the contact member and rotate together with the contact member. The frame is configured to support the support shaft. The regulating member is configured to regulate movement of the contact member. The regulating member is configured to move relative to the frame, in a direction that crosses an axial direction of the support shaft, from a regulating position to regulate movement of the support shaft in an axial direction of the support shaft.

An image forming apparatus including a holding apparatus configured to collect residual developer remaining on an intermediate transfer belt and temporarily hold the residual developer, and a cleaning member configured to remove toner borne on the photosensitive drum that moves the toner held by the holding apparatus to the intermediate transfer belt and discharging the toner. Toner from a development roller is supplied to the cleaning member before toner reversely transferred from the intermediate transfer belt is supplied to the cleaning member.
