An imaging system includes an endless belt to convey a medium, a heating member to heat the endless belt, a pressure member to press the endless belt against the heating member, and a cooling device. The cooling device is in contact with the endless belt at a non-linear portion of the endless belt and includes an interior space.

An image forming system includes: a first image forming apparatus including a first fixer that fixes an image formed on a recording medium to the recording medium; a second image forming apparatus including a second fixer that fixes an image formed on the recording medium to the recording medium, the second image forming apparatus being connected to a downstream side of the first image forming apparatus in a transport direction of the recording medium; and a hardware processor that determines first transport control content in which the recording medium is transported in the first image forming apparatus and the second image forming apparatus, and sets second transport control content so that the recording medium that has been processed by the first fixer is processed in a different position by the second fixer.

An image forming apparatus including: an image forming portion that forms a toner image on a recording material; a fixing portion that has a heater unit including a heater and that fixes the toner image on the recording material, the heater being capable of changing a heat generating region; a control portion that controls the heater; and an image adding portion that adds a predetermined additional image to a desired image, wherein the control portion sets the heat generating region according to a width of the desired image in a direction perpendicular to the conveying direction or a width of the recording material in the direction perpendicular to the conveying direction, and the width of the predetermined additional image in the direction perpendicular to the conveying direction is equal to or less than the width of the heat generating region in the direction perpendicular to the conveying direction.

A belt device includes a belt device main body, a first unit, and a second unit. The first unit includes a belt and a support to support the belt. The first unit is configured to detachably attached to the belt device main body. The second unit includes a tensioner abutting the belt. The second unit is configured to be positioned at an operating position at which the tensioner applies tension to the belt when the first unit is attached to the belt device main body and positioned at a releasing position at which the tensioner releases the tension applied to the belt when the first unit is detached from the belt device main body.

An image forming apparatus includes an apparatus main body that includes an image formation unit forming an image on a recording material, a fixation unit that includes a fixing unit fixing the image formed by the image formation unit onto the recording material and that is attachable to and detachable from the apparatus main body, a first duct that is attached to the fixation unit to face the fixing unit and through which a gas that cools the fixing unit flows, and a second duct that is attached to the apparatus main body to be adjacent to the first duct and through which a gas that cools the fixing unit flows.

An image forming apparatus, for forming an image with a fixing unit that fixes a toner image to a recording material and with a first transport path, includes: a first guide unit that guides one side of a recording material discharged from the fixing unit and transported through the first transport path; a second guide unit that guides the other side of the recording material transported thorough the first transport path; a blowing part through which gas is sent to the one side of the recording material transported through the first transport path; and a gas guiding part that faces the second guide unit with the first transport path interposed between the gas guiding part and the second guide unit and that guides, in a direction away from the first transport path, gas that is sent from the blowing part and whose traveling direction is changed by a recording material.

A device comprising a supply, a first portion, a second portion, and a third portion. The supply is to supply a metallized, non-absorptive media along a travel path, which is electrically connectable to a ground element, the metallized media to carry a first polymer structure. The first portion along the travel path is to receive droplets of ink particles within a dielectric, non-aqueous carrier fluid on the first polymer structure on the media to form an image. The second portion is to apply an adhesion-promoting surface treatment, onto the ink particles and the first polymer structure, comprising UV ozone, plasma, or chemical additive. The third portion is to apply, via heat and pressure, a second polymer structure onto the ink particles and the first polymer structure to produce a media assembly.

According to an embodiment, a fixing device includes rotating body that is rotatably supported, a heater that heats the rotating body, a pressing body that is pressed against the rotating body to form a nip through which print media passes to a media conveyance path, and a water vapor discharge passage downstream of the nip from rotating body. The water vapor discharge passage is separate and distinct from the media conveyance path. The fixing device may be used in image forming apparatuses and the like.

A cooling device cools, with air, a heating member having a longitudinal direction. The cooling device includes a blower, an air duct, and an air-volume varying mechanism. The blower blow the air. The air passes through the air duct. The air duct has a first opening to which the air is supplied by the blower, a second opening to face a portion of the heating member, and a third opening to face another portion of the heating member. The air-volume varying mechanism changes an air volume of the air discharged from the second opening and the third opening.

An image forming apparatus includes a fixing device and a cooling device provided on a side downstream of the fixing device with respect to a sheet feeding direction. The cooling device includes a first unit including a first belt and a first roller, a second unit including a second belt for forming a nip in cooperation with the first belt, a heat sink and a second roller, and a driving motor for rotating the first roller and the second roller. The second unit is movable between a contact position where the first belt and the second belt are in contact with each other so as to form the nip and a separated position where the first belt and the second belt are in separation from each other so as to release the nip.
