In one embodiment, a heating device includes a tubular body and a heater within an interior region formed by the tubular body. A first temperature detector is disposed within the interior region. A first wire is connected to the first temperature detector on a first side of the first temperature detector facing a first direction parallel to the axial length of the tubular body. A second temperature detector is disposed within the interior region on a second side of the first temperature detector opposite the first side. The second temperature detector is spaced from the first temperature detector in a second direction opposite of the first direction. A second wire is connected to the second temperature detector on a side of the second temperature detector facing the second direction. The first wire and the second wire extend with each other to an outer end of the tubular body.

A fixing device includes a first supporting member that supports one of first and a second forming members that form a nip portion by sandwiching a recording medium, a second supporting member supporting the other of the first and second forming members, a first spring pressurizing the nip portion, a cam that rotates to relatively displace the first and second supporting members in a direction in which the nip portion is released, a rotating portion disposed at a position shifted from the cam in a rotation axis direction of the cam and rotating integrally with the cam, and a second spring exerting a force on the rotating portion in a direction opposite to a rotating direction of the cam according to the rotation of the cam when a state in which the nip portion is released transitions to a state in which the nip portion is formed.

The present invention relates to temperature control of an external heating belt. A controller is capable of executing a mode in which energization to corresponding halogen heaters is controlled using outputs of respective thermistors and a mode in which the energization to the two halogen heaters is controlled using the output of the other thermistor without using the output of one thermistor.

An image forming apparatus includes an apparatus body having an image forming unit that is configured to an image on a recording material, and a fixing unit removably attached to the apparatus body to fix the image on the recording material. The fixing unit includes a roll member having a roll body and a bearing provided at each end of the roll body to support the roll body rotatably, a pressurizing member provided in contact with the roll member to form a fixing pressurizing portion through which the recording material passes, and a storage member that stores the roll member and the pressurizing member in a state in which the roll member and the pressurizing member are pressed with a predetermined pressure. The apparatus body includes a positioning member that is in contact with the bearing to position the roll member in a transport direction of the recording material.

A fixing device includes: a fixing belt; a facing member disposed on an inner side of the fixing belt; a pressure roller that presses against the fixing belt toward the facing member from outside to form a fixing nip area; a heat source; a non-passage area temperature measurer that measures a temperature of a sheet non-passage area; a pressure roller swinger that swings one end side of the pressure roller in a direction intersecting with a longitudinal direction of the fixing nip area; and a controller that performs meandering correction control for correcting a movement direction of the fixing belt by causing the pressure roller swinger to swing the pressure roller, and the controller has such a movement mode as to cause the pressure roller swinger to forcibly move the fixing belt in a direction away from the non-passage area temperature measurer while rotating the fixing belt.

An image forming apparatus includes: a contacting and separating part that is movable between a first position where a recording medium is contactable and a second position separated from the first position; and a hardware processor that controls a position of the contacting and separating part, based on temperature information of the recording medium.

An image forming apparatus includes a first fixing member, a second fixing member, and a controller. The second fixing member includes a first nip forming member and a second nip forming member each configured to nip an endless belt in combination with the first fixing member to form a nip region. A first end face on a first-fixing-member side of the first nip forming member is located closer, than a second end face on a first-fixing-member side of the second nip forming member, to the first fixing member. The controller is capable of executing a first printing process performed in a nip region formed between each of the first nip forming member and the second nip forming member and the first fixing member, and a second printing process performed in a nip region formed between only the first fixing member and the first fixing member.

A fixing device includes a first support portion that supports an endless belt, and relatively moves with respect to a rotating body to press the endless belt against the rotating body, a second support portion that supports the first support portion to be relatively movable, a first member that is supported in the endless belt by the second support portion, a second member that is supported in the endless belt to be capable of approaching and being separated from the first support portion, a first biasing member that is provided in the first support portion, and biases the second member to a rotating body side, a second biasing member that is provided in the second support portion, and biases the first support portion to the rotating body side, and a switching portion that switches between a first state and a second state.

A cooling conveyor includes a conveyor, a cooler, and a pipe. The conveyor includes at least a first conveyor and a second conveyor to sandwich and convey a recording material. The first conveyor approaches and separates from the second conveyor. The cooler is disposed in the second conveyor to cool the recording material after an image is fixed on the recording material. The pipe is connected to the cooler to flow a cooling liquid into the cooler.

A fixing device includes a pressuring member, a fixing frame, a pressuring frame, a pressure changing part, a rotation detecting part and a rotation transmitting part. The pressuring member forms a fixing nip with a fixing member. The fixing frame supports the fixing member. The pressuring frame supports the pressuring member. The pressure changing part changes fixing nip pressure. The rotation transmitting part transmits rotation of the pressuring member to the rotation detecting part. The fixing frame is turnably supported around a fulcrum part provided on the pressuring frame. The pressure changing part turns the fixing frame around the fulcrum part. The rotation transmitting part has a first rotating body and a second rotating body. The first rotating body is provided on a rotation shaft of the pressuring member. The second rotating body is engaged with the first rotating body and rotatably supported around the fulcrum part.
