ADAPTIVE CHORD TYPING SYSTEM
20230400933 · 2023-12-14 ·

Examples provide an input device for an adaptive chord typing system. An input device includes a plurality of keys and a chord manager in firmware or software on the device. The chord manager analyzes input words and identifies frequently input candidate words. The chord manager automatically generates recommended chords that are shorter than the identified candidate words to serve as a shortcut during typing. The recommended chords are output to a user via a user interface communicatively coupled to the input device. If the user accepts a recommended chord, the chord is mapped to a corresponding frequently input word. When the user types a mapped chord using the keys on the input device, the input device generates keystroke data corresponding to the corresponding frequently input word(s), as if the user had actually input the word(s) rather than the chord to increase typing speed.

Touch sensitive keyboard

A touch sensitive keyboard is disclosed. In one embodiment, a touch sensitive keyboard is provided that has a touchpad area separate from the keyboard keys. The keyboard is configured to disabled touchpad sensitivity when certain touch signals are received. In another embodiment, a touch sensitive keyboard is used as a controller. In a controller mode, keys on a touch sensitive keyboard are adapted to output a signal strength corresponding to a distance between the key and a finger operating as a control. In an embodiment, a touch sensitive keyboard includes a processor adapted to output a keystroke in response to one of the plurality of touch sensitive keys being pressed, and to output one or more touch points determined by interpolating signal strength for each of the plurality of touch sensitive keys on the keyboard.

Multilingual character input device

Disclosed is a multilingual character input device. The multilingual character input device comprising a keyboard unit for displaying character phonemes converted from characters per language in a software-selected country on a key and selectively receiving the input of the displayed character phonemes; a display unit for displaying the received input character on a display; a storage unit for storing character phonemes, a list of data and a program; and, a control unit for controlling the keyboard unit and the display unit, wherein, the keyboard unit comprises: a numeric/symbol keys section for displaying numbers and symbols disposed at an upper part; an F keys section disposed below the numeric/symbol keys section for displaying functions, characters or preset functions and plurality of F keys are addible; a character keys section disposed below the F keys section for displaying basic phonemes of each language, and; a plurality of additional keys in the character keys section for displaying variant phonemes or preset symbols, wherein if language conversion is performed through a language conversion key of the keyboard unit, a language exceeding the phoneme number of the character keys section is assigned to the F keys section and the plurality of additional keys so as to display all character phonemes, so that the input of the characters for each language is received by one key stroke.

Reprogramable multi-host, multi-character set keyboard

A system having a keyboard capable of supporting multiple hosts and changing character sets. A first host processor communicates with a display. A keyboard has a plurality of independently moveable physical keys with each letter of an entire alphabet accessible by a single strike actuation of one of the plurality of keys. The keyboard uses twelve or fewer keys provide single strike access to the entire alphabet. A map defining functions of the keys appears on the display responsive to a prompting action of a user's hand without requiring any finger to leave the keys that provide access to the alphabet. The map defines the spatial relationship of each function relative to a home position of a finger.

Input device with a variable tensioned joystick with travel distance for operating a musical instrument, and a method of use thereof

An input device for operating a musical instrument having musical behavior of string instruments, which comprises a key plate unit containing a set of input keys to be pressed by a player, in order to generate a first set of electric input signals, which emulate a combination of pressed keys of a musical instrument or a combination of pressed strings; a stick unit with variable tension of displacement including a stick to be moved by the player between predetermined discrete positions, which emulate a combination of strummed strings of a musical instrument.

Smart keyboard

The subject matter of this specification describes a method that includes determining when to send a user selection of a first key on a keyboard to an operating system, where the operating system supports shortcut key combinations. The device identifies the user selection of the first key, as input for an application. The device determines that the first key is part of a shortcut key combination. The processing device determines whether a cursor is visible in a user interface provided by the application. Upon determining that the cursor is visible in the user interface, the device waits for another user selection of one or more remaining keys of the shortcut key combinations before sending the first key to the operating system. Upon determining that the cursor is not visible in the user interface, the device sends the first key to the operating system without waiting for another user selection.

Character editing based on selection of an allocation pattern allocating characters of a character array to a plurality of selectable keys

An electronic device comprising a touch screen, a plurality of first keys arranged along a periphery of the touch screen, a storage configured to stores a character array, and at least one controller configured to execute a character editing process according to an operation on the first key by allocating at least one of characters and phrases included in the character array to each of the first keys and accepting, when detecting the operation on one of the first keys, editing the at least one of the characters and the phrases allocated to the first key on which the operation is detected.
