Disclosed herein are oral care compositions comprising a peroxide whitening complex in an amount to provide from 3.5% to 7% of hydrogen peroxide by weight of the composition, and a block copolymer of ethylene oxide and propylene oxide in an amount of from 40% to 60% by weight of the composition. Methods of making and using the dentifrices are also provided.

Hypotonic microbicidal compositions including an antimicrobial, such as an antiviral compound, and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier in a solution formulation having hypotonic osmolarity have been developed for administration rectally to the gastrointestinal mucosa. In a preferred embodiment for use in preventing or decreasing HIV infection, the microbicidal is tenofovir, or a prodrug or derivative thereof. The formulations may include additional agents such as surfactants to enhance cleansing, buffers, or preservatives. Polymers may be included for osmolarity as well as comfort.

To provide the necessary stability to such systems, the compositions utilize both a hectorite and silica silylate, where the hectorite is disteardimonium hectorite, stearalkonium hectorite, or both.

The present invention relates to an oil-based cosmetic having the innovative, unprecedented property in which the ultraviolet protection effects increase due to heat. The oil-based cosmetic of the present invention contains (A) an ultraviolet protectant; and (B) at least one compound that is water-soluble and that has an IOB of 5.0 or lower, selected from among (i) alkylene oxide derivatives and (ii) polyhydric alcohols; wherein the (B) (i) alkylene oxide derivatives are polyoxyalkylene/polyoxyethylene copolymer dialkyl ethers represented by the following formula (I):
