WATER-IN-OIL MICROEMULSIONS FOR PERSONAL CARE
Water-in-oil microemulsions containing triglyceride oil for personal care applications are described. The W/O type of microemulsions based on triglyceride oils such as soya oil and sunflower oil are suitable for skin cleansing shower oils. The microemulsions of the patent application allow the use of several mild surfactants, thereby obviating the use of aliphatic amine based anionic surfactants for personal cleansing. The microemulsion based on coconut oil serves like a two-in-one formulation for pre-wash hair conditioning like a typical hair-oil and subsequently like a shampoo for cleansing the hair.
GLOSS LIP BALM FORMULATION
The disclosure relates to pre-blend compositions and methods of making the compositions. The disclosure also relates to cosmetic compositions prepared from the pre-blend compositions and methods of making same. This abstract is intended as a scanning tool for purposes of searching in the particular art and is not intended to be limiting of the present invention.
SOLID ANHYDROUS COMPOSITION FOR CARING FOR AND/OR MAKING UP KERATIN MATERIALS
A solid anhydrous composition for caring for and/or making up keratin materials comprises a) 2 wt. % or more of at least one hydrophilic moisturizer, relative to the total weight of the composition; b) at least one non-ionic surfactant selected from glyceryl fatty acid monoesters and polyglyceryl fatty acid esters; c) polyethylene wax; and e) at least one oil. A cosmetic process for caring for and/or making up keratin materials comprises applying the solid anhydrous composition according to the present invention to the keratin materials.
STABLE BIOACTIVE COMPOSITION
A composition for stabilising one or more unstable bioactive components, the formulation comprising a protective matrix of at least agar and glycerol; and a bioactive component at 0.005-15% w/w embedded in the matrix, an animal chew for veterinary use comprising said composition and a process of making the same.
Hair or skin treatment composition and methods of preparation and use
A hair or skin treatment composition for improving health of hair or skin includes an ointment obtained by heating one or more of castor oil, animal fat, and vegetable oil with a mash comprising one or more of carrots, onions, coconut flesh, and watercress, for between one and eight hours to generate, after straining to remove solids, a preliminary oil mixture. The preliminary oil mixture is heated with one or more of citrus juice and nutmeg, for between one and eight hours, to generate, after straining to remove solids, an intermediate oil mixture. The intermediate oil mixture is heated with sulfur, petrolatum, and at least one agent configured for absorbing or blocking ultraviolet radiation to generate, upon cooling, the ointment, which can be applied to hair or skin of a user to effect a physical or aesthetic change thereto.
Lipid barrier repair
The present disclosure is in the field of ointments which can be useful for the treatment of diseases or conditions associated with lipid barrier damage of the skin. The ointment comprises a semifluorinated alkane and a solid thickening agent, e.g., a wax, a triglyceride, cetyl alcohol, cetyl palmitate, or tetradecanol.
COMPOSITIONS AND TREATMENT METHODS FOR DIAPER DERMATITIS AND SKIN IRRITATION
Disclosed herein are topical compositions and treatment methods for protecting the skin and alleviating symptoms of dermatitis, including diaper rash, and skin irritation caused by nonspecific dermatitis conditions and those associated with increased bacterial and/or yeast growth. The compositions may include petroleum jelly, lanolin, aluminum hydroxide, mineral oil, miconazole and bacitracin. The compositions may be delivered topically and formulated in ointments, creams, and lotions.
Microorganisms that extracellularly secrete lipids and methods of producing lipid and lipid particles encapsulating lipids using said microorganisms
There are provided microorganisms having a property of producing a lipid containing unsaturated fatty acids as constituent fatty acids and extracellularly secreting the produced lipid encapsulated in lipid particles, methods of screening said microorganisms, as well as methods of efficiently producing a fatty acid-containing lipid using said microorganisms. Furthermore, there are provided lipid particles encapsulating a lipid containing unsaturated fatty acids, and foods, cosmetics, and animal feeds comprising said lipid particles added thereto. Artificially treated microorganisms or microorganisms collected from nature are grown on a solid medium, and microbial strains that form lipid particles at the periphery of the colonies and/or microbial strains that, when cultured in a transparent liquid medium, make the culture liquid cloudy are selected. The microorganisms obtained are cultured, lipid-containing lipid particles secreted in the culture liquid, are separated from the culture liquid, and the lipid is separated and purified.
OXIDIZING COMPOSITION FOR TREATING KERATIN MATERIALS, COMPRISING A FATTY SUBSTANCE AND OXYALKYLENATED SURFACTANTS
The present invention relates to a composition for treating keratin materials, in particular keratin fibres, and in particular human keratin fibres such as the hair, comprising, in a cosmetically acceptable medium: at least one fatty substance in a content of greater than or equal to 10% by weight relative to the total weight of the composition, at least one oxyalkylenated (OA), preferably oxyethylenated (OE), nonionic surfactant comprising a number of OA units, preferably OE units, ranging from 1 to 9, at least one oxyalkylenated (OA), preferably oxyethylenated (OE), nonionic surfactant comprising at least 10 OA units, preferably OE units, the weight ratio of the amount of oxyalkylenated (OA), preferably oxyethylenated, nonionic surfactant(s) comprising a number of OA units, preferably OE units, ranging from 1 to 9 to the amount of oxyalkylenated (OA), preferably oxyethylenated, nonionic surfactants comprising at least 10 OA units, preferably OE units, being greater than 1, at least one chemical oxidizing agent, preferably hydrogen peroxide. The composition in accordance with the invention may be used for dyeing, bleaching or permanently reshaping keratin materials, in particular keratin fibres. It produces ready-to-use compositions that give good dyeing, bleaching or permanent-reshaping properties without degrading the keratin materials, in particular keratin fibres, and without impairing their cosmetic properties.
COMPOSITION FOR COATING KERATIN FIBERS WITH AT LEAST ONE ESTER OF A FATTY ACID AND POLYOL
The present invention relates to a composition, particularly for coating keratin fibers, notably eyelashes, in the form of a wax-in-water emulsion, comprising at least one pasty fat chosen from (poly)esters of at least one C.sub.20-C.sub.100 fatty acid, preferably behenic acid, and at least one polyol, preferably glycerol, wherein the wax content is strictly greater than 5% by weight with respect to the total weight of said composition.
