Multiple-pattern fiducial for heterogeneous imaging sensor systems

A multiple-pattern fiducial for a heterogeneous imaging sensor system. The multiple-pattern fiducial includes a first pattern detectable by a first wavelength of electromagnetic energy, and a second pattern detectable by a second wavelength of electromagnetic energy.

Indicia reader for size-limited applications

An indicia-reading module is capable of integration into the smallest face of thin-profile smart device. The module employs chip-on-board packaging and a customized sensor enclosure to eliminate the stack-up height found in conventional packaging. The module also employs a customized frame to reduce volume by integrating circuit subassembly circuit boards into a unique architecture and by serving as the lenses for the illuminator and the aimer, thereby eliminating the need for any extra lenses or holders.

Apparatus for storing information on a spectacles lens, spectacles lens blank or spectacles lens semi-finished product

Information is stored in an optical element in the form of a glass or plastic body embodied as spectacles lens, spectacles lens blank or spectacles lens semi-finished product. The information in the form of data is stored on or in the glass or plastic body by creating at least one marking with a marking system. The marking can be read by a reading apparatus. The marking system has an interface for reading information individualizing the optical element. The marking is created permanently by the marking system on or in the optical element at a definition point of a local body-specific coordinate system set by two points on or in the optical element. In this body coordinate system, the manufacturer specifies the position of the lens horizontal and/or the far and/or the near and/or the prism reference point.

Handheld ID-reading system with integrated illumination assembly

This provides an ID reader, typically configured for handheld operation, which integrates three types of illumination into a compact package that generates robust performance and resistance to harsh environmental conditions, such as dust and moisture. These illumination types include, direct (diffuse) light, low-angle light and polarized light. The ID reader includes a sealed reader module assembly having the illuminators in combination with an imager assembly (optics and image sensor) at its relative center. Additionally, also an on-axis aimer and a variable focus system with liquid lens have been integrated in this module and is placed on axis using a mirror assembly that includes a dichroic filter. As the optimal distance to read a code with low-angle light is typically shorter than the optimal distance to use the polarized illumination a variable (e.g. liquid) lens can adjust the focus of the reader to the optimal distance for the selected illumination.

A system for monitoring loading and unloading of goods or area transfers of goods. A terminal is positioned close to the point of passage of the goods. The goods being in containers, each container includes a barcode or a container carrier having a barcode. The terminal includes an image capturing device, configured to capture a photograph or film at the time when at least one container or container carrier passes in front of the terminal. A flash connected to the image capturing device triggers when a photograph or film is captured. A control unit includes a microcontroller driving the system and the database. A processing unit to process the photograph or film to identify the barcode captured in the photograph or film. A triggering unit to trigger the capture of a photograph or film based on at least detection of a container indicating passage in front of the terminal.

Systems and methods of conducting a bar code scan using an imaging-based bar code scan device are provided. In one exemplary embodiment, a method is performed by an imaging-based bar code device that includes processing circuitry, an optical lens assembly having an image sensor and an optical lens with a focused region at a certain distance in front of the optical lens along an optical axis of the optical lens, a plurality of light emitting elements configured proximate the optical lens and laterally offset from the optical axis. The method includes sending, by the processing circuitry, to each light emitting element, an indication to enable that light emitting element to project a light beam towards the optical axis in the focused region so that the light beams overlap when a target bar code is in the focused region and non-overlap when a target bar code is outside the focused region.

Embodiments of the disclosure relate generally to imaging devices and indicia reading devices. An imaging apparatus comprises an image sensor, an optical window positioned in front of the image sensor and a light source enclosing a perimeter of the optical window such that an illumination cone of the light source overlaps a portion of a near field of view cone of the imaging apparatus. The portion of the near field of view cone extends from a surface of the optical window to a threshold distance from the optical window. The light source is configured to produce a first illumination along a first direction extending towards a scene to be imaged.
