ILLUMINATION CONTROL FOR IMAGING SYSTEMS WITH MULTIPLE IMAGE SENSORS
Embodiments of the disclosure relate generally to illumination synchronization in a multi-imager environment. Embodiments include systems, methods, computer program products, and apparatuses configured for operating a near-field illumination source associated with a near-field image sensor, based on a first illumination pulse train. An exposure period of a far-field image sensor is determined and one or more characteristics of the first illumination pulse train are modified to accommodate the exposure period of the far-field image sensor.
Interleaved frame types optimized for vision capture and barcode capture
A barcode reader configured to capture interleaved frame types optimized for vision capture and barcode capture are disclosed herein. An example barcode reader is configured to operate in a pre-determined repetitive pattern of capturing a first frame and capturing a second frame over a reading cycle having a fixed duration after a triggering event, wherein the first frame is captured over a first exposure period having a first duration, and the second frame is captured over a second exposure period having a second duration, and wherein the first frame is associated with a first brightness parameter, and the second frame is associated with a second brightness parameter.

Disclosed herein is a barcode reading system that includes an image decoding system, a communication interface, and an image sensor system package. The image decoding system may include a processor, memory, and a decoder stored in the memory. The image sensor system package may be coupled to the image decoding system via the communication interface. The image sensor system package may include a photo sensor array and pre-processing circuitry. The photo sensor array may be configured to capture image frames at a first speed. The pre-processing circuitry may be configured to perform one or more operations on the image frames captured by the photo sensor array. The pre-processing circuitry may be additionally configured to effect transfer of at least some of the image frames to the image decoding system via the communication interface at a second speed. The first speed may be greater than the second speed.

User interface LED synchronization for vision camera systems
An imaging device includes a housing having an optically transmissive window, a first imaging assembly, a second imaging assembly, and illumination emitter for generating a user interface visual indicator. The illumination emitter may be a light emitting diode or other light source. To prevent internal reflection of the user interface visual indicator off the window and appearing in captured images from the imaging assemblies, the imaging device synchronizes emitter-on times and sensor exposure-on times to prevent substantial overlap therebetween, thereby allowing for more accurate image captures, including color image captures of the imaging device.
Optical communication device and method for transmitting and receiving information
Disclosed are an optical communication device and a method for transmitting and receiving information. The optical communication device includes at least two light sources including a first light source and a second light source, and a controller configured to drive the first light source and the second light source in one or more driving modes. The first light source and the second light source are driven in a same driving mode for transmitting first information, and the first light source and the second light source are driven in different driving modes including a first driving mode and a second driving mode which have the same or different frequencies for transmitting other information different from the first information.
System and method for illuminating a target of a barcode reader
A code reader may include a light source configured to illuminate a target area in which items are to be located for reading machine-readable indicia associated with the items, an image sensor configured to capture an image of the target area, an illumination drive circuit in electrical communication with the light source, and an image capture circuit. The image capture circuit may be configured to (i) enable and disable the image sensor to capture an image of the target area during the high illumination and a portion(s) of the low illumination of the target area, and (ii) read an image captured by the image sensor. The illumination drive signals may cause the illumination drive circuit to generate a high illumination drive signal to cause the light source to produce a high illumination, and generate a low illumination drive current to cause said light source to produce a low illumination.
VIRTUAL-FRAME PREPROCESSING FOR OPTICAL SCANNING
An optical scanner captures a plurality of images from a plurality of image-capture devices. In response to the activation signal, an evaluation phase is executed, and in response to the evaluation phase, an acquisition phase is executed. In the evaluation phase, a first set of images is captured and processed to produce a virtual frame comprising a plurality of regions, with each region containing a reduced-data image frame that is based on a corresponding one of the plurality of images. Also in the evaluation phase, attributes of each of the plurality regions of the virtual frame are assessed according to first predefined criteria, and operational parameters for the acquisition phase are set based on a result of the assessment. In the acquisition phase, a second set of at least one image is captured via at least one of the plurality of image-capture devices according to the set of operational parameters.
