AIMING PATTERNS FOR AUTO-FOCUS ROLLING SHUTTER CAMERA WITH DUAL IMAGING FOV AND ASSOCIATED SYSTEMS
A system and methods for providing aiming guidance for an imaging system. The system includes an illumination field source configured to provide illumination along a illumination optical axis to (i) illuminate a target and (ii) indicate a near field of view of the imaging system and a far field aiming source configured to provide a radiation pattern along an aiming optical axis to indicate a far field of view of the imaging system. Near field optics are configured to receive the first illumination from the near field illumination source and to form the first illumination to provide illumination to, and indicate to a user or machine vision system, the near field of view of the imaging system, and far field optics are configured to receive radiation from the aiming source and provide the radiation pattern to the far field to indicate the far field of view of the imaging system.
MULTIPLE FOCUS ACTUATOR CALIBRATION
Multiple focus ball bearing actuator calibration is disclosed herein. An example method includes focusing, using a ball bearing actuator, a lens to a first focus position to image a first target; recording, in a lookup table, a first distance and a first actuator code corresponding with the first focus position; focusing the lens to a second focus position to image a second target; recording, in the lookup table, a second distance and a second actuator code corresponding with the second focus position; calculating a plurality of focus positions for a plurality of distances over a total working range of the barcode reader using the first focus position and the second focus position, wherein the calculating is performed without a temperature correction factor; and recording, in the lookup table, the plurality of distances and a plurality of actuator codes corresponding to the plurality of focus positions.
METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR SCANNING SWIPED BARCODES
Methods and apparatus for scanning swiped barcodes are disclosed. An example method includes in response to detecting an object, capturing first images while focused at a swipe focus distance representing a pre-determined expected swipe distance range within which a scan target is expected to be swiped across a FOV. In response to a barcode decoded based upon the first images, exiting the swipe decode phase. In response to no barcode decoded during a time period representing an expected amount of time during which a scan target is expected to be swiped across the FOV, exiting the swipe decode phase and initiating a re-presentation decode phase including sequentially focusing the imaging scanner at a plurality of pre-determined, re-presentation focus distances, capturing one or more second images at each of the plurality of pre-determined, re-presentation focus distances, and, attempting to decode a barcode in one or more of the second images.
APPARATUS HAVING HYBRID MONOCHROME AND COLOR IMAGE SENSOR ARRAY
There is provided in one embodiment an apparatus having an image sensor array. In one embodiment, the image sensor array can include monochrome pixels and color sensitive pixels. The monochrome pixels can be pixels without wavelength selective color filter elements. The color sensitive pixels can include wavelength selective color filter elements.
Systems, methods, and apparatuses for focus selection using image disparity
Embodiments of the disclosure relate generally to automatic focus selection in a multi-imager environment. Embodiments include methods, systems, and apparatuses configured for capturing by a first image sensor, a first image of a visual object with a background associated with a subject. A characteristic difference between the visual object in the first image and the background in the first image is determined and a distance determination mode is selected based on the determined characteristic difference. Accordingly, a distance to the subject is calculated based on the selected distance determination mode and a second image sensor is controlled to capture a second image of the subject, based on the calculated distance to the subject.

Barcode-reading system that requires an accessory for enhanced operation of a barcode reading application
A barcode-reading system for a mobile device may include a camera assembly. The barcode-reading system may include a barcode-reading enhancement accessory and a barcode-reading application. The barcode-reading enhancement accessory may be securable to the mobile device and may be configured to provide an indication of license entitlement to the mobile device. The barcode-reading application may be stored in memory of the mobile device and executable by a processor of the mobile device. The barcode-reading application may also be configured to enable an enhanced mode of operation of the barcode-reading application conditional upon determining obtaining the license entitlement from the accessory.
Method of differentiating between focus drift and a change in distance to target for variable focus lens
A method and apparatus for differentiating focus drift of an imaging system from position changes of an object of interest. The method includes obtaining an image of an object of interest and identifying a region of interest in the image, wherein the region of interest contains an indicia indicative of the object of interest. The processor determines an image quality of the image and analyzes the indicia and determines a pixel measurement of the indicia. The processor then compares the pixel measurement of the indicia to a reference pixel measurement. Based on the comparison, the processor determines that the image quality of the image results either from a difference in a distance of the object from the imaging system or from focusing drift of the imaging system.
