Point-of-sale device and method for generating a discounted authorization request

A computer server receives from a mobile device, via a first network, a data structure request that includes a user identifier; associates a data structure with a user profile; and transmits the data structure to the mobile device. The user profile includes the user identifier and a current balance value. The server receives from a POS device, via a second network, a balance update request that includes an updated balance value, and a validation request that includes the user identifier and the data structure. The server determines that, prior to receiving the validation request, the server had associated the data structure with the user profile. The server replaces the current balance value in the user profile with the updated balance value; and transmits to the mobile device, via the first network, a balance update confirmation confirming that the server had updated the user profile with the updated balance value.

Methods for enhancing transaction authorizations with device location data

Various embodiments described herein are generally directed to techniques for managing fraud rules and generating authentication directions according to location data from one or more client devices. Embodiments may include using a payment server informed by a client device application to manage and/or apply fraud rules for transactions. In embodiments, fraud rules may be managed based on location data provided by a client device application and/or location data associated with at least one transaction system. In some embodiments, fraud rules may be managed based on location data provided by multiple client device applications and/or location data associated with at least one transaction system. In some embodiments, rules may be managed for an individual authorization request according to information from at least one client device application and location data for a transaction system associated with the authorization request.

System and method for conditional data transfers

A system comprises a communications module; a processor coupled to the communications module; and a memory coupled to the processor, the memory storing processor-executable instructions which, when executed by the processor, configure the processor to receive, via the communications module, a transfer instruction for transfer of data from a first data record associated with a transferor to a second data record associated with a recipient, the transfer instruction including a transfer amount and a condition associated with the transfer; send, via the communications module, a notification of the transfer instruction to a computing device associated with the recipient and request permission to obtain contextual data therefrom; when permission is granted, obtain, via the communications module, contextual data from the computing device; determine, based on the contextual data, that the condition associated with the transfer has been satisfied; and in response to determining that the condition associated with the transfer has been satisfied, effect the transfer of data from the first data record to the second data record.

CIRCULAR POLARIZATION ANTENNA FOR USE IN DETECTING PRESENCE WITHIN A STRICTLY DEFINED WIRELESS ZONE

A wireless proximity detection system employs short-range wireless communication implementing circular polarization to detect the proximity of a user device within a strictly defined wireless zone, regardless of its orientation and location on the user, and as a result trigger a desired action. The proximity detection system may utilize one or more patch antennas to define the wireless zone and the associated received signal strength(s) detected by the user's wireless device, as well as a distance-measuring device. A beacon may be utilized to prepare the user's mobile phone for detection as well as other antennas for coordination with the primary short-range antenna. The novel antenna structure allows a compact and low-cost fabrication method and the use of common printed circuit fabrication methods provide an integrated solution.

Identifying a person committing a crime in video data captured by a security device. An information request message identifying the video data and a need for information about the video data is received. When the video data is determined suitable for sharing within a geographic network, an access control of the video data is set to allow a client device registered with the geographic network to display the video data. A display control value of the video data is set to direct display of a label with the video data to indicate the need for the information. A rating of usefulness of the information received from the client device is determined and a first value is added to an account associated with the client device based at least in part upon the rating.

A vehicle identification system and method incorporating image recognition for retrieval, authentication, and/or notification. The vehicle identification system having a computing structure comprising at least one processor, a tangible computer-readable memory, and a transceiver for communicating over a network. A camera system communicating with the computing structure. The camera system having at least one camera observing at least one vehicle within a camera range of an establishment. The camera system capturing at least one image of the at least one vehicle. The tangible computer-readable memory comprises instructions to configure the at least one processor to: receive image data from the camera system; and detect an identifiable feature of the vehicle within the image data.

Virtual punch card

A virtual punch card rewards system is described. The system includes a user database that stores user information concerning a plurality of users, a network interface configured to communicate data over a network, and a processing circuit comprising a processor and memory. The memory is structured to store instructions that are executable by the processor and cause the processing circuit to receive transaction information concerning a payment account belonging to a user, determine a reward category for the user based on the retrieved transaction information, generate virtual punch card parameters for the user based on the determined reward category, and transmit, by the network interface over the network, virtual punch card content to a computing device associated with the user, the virtual punch card content including a first graphical interface configured to present the user with at least one of the generated virtual punch card parameters.

Payment schemes using light identification for passengers in commercial passenger vehicle

A system for assisting a payment to a passenger on a commercial passenger vehicle is disclosed. The system is located in the commercial passenger vehicle and comprises: an onboard server configured to (1) receive, from a personal electronic device associated with a passenger, a request to process a payment along with payment credential information and (2) operate to authorize the payment; a light sourcing device in communication with the onboard server and configured to receive, from the onboard server, a verification request for the payment credential information, and display a light identification (ID); and the personal electronic device in communication with the onboard server and the light sourcing device and configured to capture an image of the light ID and obtain the verification request corresponding to the payment credential information from the captured image.

Processing transaction requests may be considered a computationally expensive operation for a computing system such as an e-commerce platform. An aspect of the present disclosure relates to systems and methods to reduce the number of transaction requests that are received and/or processed by a computing system. This may reduce demand on the computing system's resources and potentially improve the responsiveness of the computing system. In some embodiments, a set of users is selected based on at least one defined condition for a particular transaction request. Origination of the particular transaction request on behalf of users excluded from the set of users is prevented in order to reduce the number of the particular transaction requests that are received and/or processed by a corresponding computing system.
