Methods and apparatus for automatically providing a ranking of items in response to a search request
This application relates to apparatus and methods for ranking search results. In some examples, a computing device receives item data identifying items for a search query provided by a user. The computing determines, for each item, a first value based on a relevance of the item to the search query. The computing device also determines user engagement data for the user, where the user engagement data identifies engagements by the user on a webpage. The computing device determines, for each item, a second value based on the user engagement data. In some examples, the computing device determines the first values and second values by executing one or more machine learning models. The computing device further determines a ranking of the plurality of items based on the first values and the second values. The computing may transmit the ranking of the plurality of items, such as to a web server.

Disclosed examples include accessing impression data collected at a media device by a collector installed with an application, the impression data including a first identifier, a second identifier, and a media identifier, the first identifier to identify at least one of the media device or a user of the media device to a first database proprietor, and the second identifier to identify the at least one of the media device or the user of the media device to a second database proprietor, the collector to obtain the first and second identifiers from a memory of the media device; requesting first demographic information from the first database proprietor based on the first identifier and second demographic information from the second database proprietor based on the second identifier; and storing at least some of the first or second demographic information in association with the media identifier in a data store.
Method, system, and computer program product for providing product data and/or recommendations
Provided is a method for providing product data to a user. The method may include receiving query data associated with a plurality of queries of a database by a user. A classification for at least two queries of the plurality of queries may be determined. A product associated with the classification of the at least two queries may be determined. A potential revenue associated with the product may be calculated based on the user. A probability that the user will purchase the product may be calculated. A score may be calculated based on the potential revenue and the probability that the user will purchase the product. Product data associated with the product may be transmitted to the user if the score exceeds a threshold. A system and computer program product are also disclosed.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR CREATION, DISTRIBUTION AND TRACKING OF ADVERTISING VIA ELECTRONIC NETWORKS
A system and method for creation, distribution and tracking of advertising via electronic networks, enabling creation of advertisements using licensed third-party content and placement of the ads at desired network locations, utilizing an auction of ad spaces based on bids placed by advertisers to have their ads displayed at such locations. When a network user/ad viewer requests an ad by clicking or other action, an auction algorithm executes to select the ad to be displayed from those that bid for display at such ad space location and then the ad is composed and delivered to the ad space location by accessing a relational database storing commands that retrieve, assemble and dispatch the licensed ad content. Usage and display of licensed content on designated ad space is tracked to enable cost-per-use charging for both use of licensed content and ad display at the designated ad space.

Provided are an electronic device and a method for controlling same. The present method for controlling the electronic device may allow for on the basis of an image obtained by a camera of the electronic device, acquiring information associated with the user, identifying at least one advertisement category among a plurality of advertisement categories; when an event for displaying an advertisement occurs, transmitting information on the at least one advertisement category to an advertisement platform server; and receiving an advertisement in the at least one advertisement category from the advertisement platform server.

Handling search queries
A system for providing advertisements with search results in response to a search query comprises a front end and an advertisement server. The front end is configured: to receive a search query; to send a first search request to a search server and sending a first advertisement request to an advertisement server, wherein the first search request includes the search query or information based on the search query, and wherein the first advertisement request includes the search query or information based on the search query and an indication that an advertisement response is not to be provided; to receive search results from the search server; and to send at least some of the search results to the advertisement server in a second advertisement request, wherein the second advertisement request includes an indication that an advertisement response is to be provided. The advertisement server is configured: in response to receiving the first advertisement request, to search for advertisements related to the search query to produce plural advertisement results each with an associated score; in response to receiving the second advertisement request, to modify the score of at least one of the plural advertisement results; to rank the plural advertisement results according to their scores; to select one or more of the highest ranked plural advertisement results; and to send an advertisement response to the front end, the advertisement response including the selected one or more highest ranked plural advertisement results. The front end is configured to provide the search results with the selected one or more highest ranked plural advertisement results.

GENERATION OF PRODUCT STRATEGY USING USER SEGMENT SEARCH TERMS
Described herein are techniques for generating a product strategy that may be implemented by a seller to optimize a product's prominence within a product listing generated by an electronic retailer. In some embodiments, a number of user segments may be generated for a product category into which the product falls. The system then identifies a target user segment for the product from the number of user segments. Once a target user segment has been identified, revisions to product data associated with the product may be determined based upon a set of search terms associated with the target user segment. The revisions may be provided to a seller of the product via a product strategy for implementation, either as a revised product data or as a set of recommended revisions to the product data.
