Generating navigation instructions

Concepts for generating navigation instructions for a driver of a vehicle are presented. One example, includes obtaining a current location of the vehicle, a route for the vehicle from the current location to a target destination, and a captured image of the surrounding environment of the vehicle, the image having a field of view comprising at least part of a field of view of the driver. An object is identified in the captured image. Navigation instructions for the driver are generated based on the current location of the vehicle, the route for the vehicle and the object identified in the captured image.

Method, apparatus and computer program product for spatial auditory cues

A method, apparatus, and computer program product are therefore provided for providing a navigation user interface. The apparatus may be caused to: receive an indication of location based information for a user; provide for generation of a first auditory cue, where generation of the first auditory cue may include generating an audio cue having a virtual source location using three-dimensional audio effects. Providing for generation of the first auditory cue may include causing the apparatus to: provide for generation of a beginning of the first auditory cue at a first virtual source location; and provide for generation of a transition phase of the first auditory cue moving the virtual source location from the first virtual source location along a trajectory and ending at a second virtual source location, where the second virtual source location is a location positioned between the user and a location identified in the location based information.

In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and apparatus for operating a computational network are provided. The apparatus may obtain a set of navigational instructions describing a route to a destination. The apparatus may obtain first image data through a first camera that is oriented toward the route, the first image data depicting a first scene associated with the route. The apparatus may determine a first field of view associated with a user that is navigating the route to the destination based on a first sensor that is oriented toward the user. The apparatus may identify at least one salient object represented in the first scene based on the first field of view. The apparatus may output instructional information describing a first navigational instruction of the set of navigational instructions with reference to the at least one salient object.

Acoustic reproduction of a digital audio medium in a motor vehicle

A method is provided for acoustically reproducing a digital audio medium, in particular an audiobook, in a motor vehicle, in particular a two- or four-wheel motor vehicle, which has a navigation system that determines the current geographical position of the vehicle, wherein at least first information on the roadway section currently being traversed is assigned to the geographical position. In order to reproduce a digital audio medium in a motor vehicle in a user-friendly manner, the following steps are proposed: a first comparison is carried out in order to determine whether the information on the roadway section currently being traversed, the information being assigned to the current geographical position, indicates a roadway section which requires increased attention from the operator of the motor vehicle; in the event of a positive first comparison, the reproduction of the audio medium is interrupted; a second comparison is carried out in order to determine whether the information on the roadway section currently being traversed, the information being assigned to the current geographical position, continues to indicate a roadway section which requires increased attention from the operator of the motor vehicle; in the event of a positive second comparison, the reproduction of the audio medium is further interrupted; and in the event of a negative second comparison, the reproduction of the audio medium is continued.

Acoustic playback of a digital audio medium in a motor vehicle

A method is provided for the acoustic playback of a digital audio medium, in particular an audio book, in a motor vehicle, in particular a two- or four-wheeled motor vehicle, at least one sensor, more particularly at least one velocity-, force- or acceleration sensor, used to detect driving parameters of the motor vehicle, being provided in or on the motor vehicle. For the user-friendly playback of a digital audio medium in a motor vehicle: in a first step a first comparison is carried out as to whether the driving parameters detected by the at least one sensor characterize a section of road requiring a higher degree of alertness on the part of the driver of the motor vehicle. If the first comparison is positive, the playback of the audio medium is interrupted in a second step. In a third step, a second comparison is carried out as to whether the driving parameters detected by the at least one sensor characterize a section of road requiring a higher degree of alertness on the part of the driver of the motor vehicle. If the second comparison is positive, the playback of the audio medium is still interrupted in a fourth step. Finally, if the second comparison is negative, the playback of the audio medium is resumed in a fifth step.

Navigation system and navigation device

Whether route guidance information output from a navigation device to which an external device is connectable is provided by a navigation function of the external device or by that of the navigation device is able to be identified. A navigation device (100) that outputs route guidance information to HMI devices (104) to (110) and an external device (102) having a navigation function connected to the navigation device are included. The navigation device includes an external device detection means (322) that detects an input from the external device and an output control means (324) that controls output of route guidance information to the HMI devices. When the external device detection means has detected an input from the external device, the output control means outputs route guidance information provided by the navigation function included in the external device to the HMI devices in an output mode different from when route guidance information is output to the HMI devices by a navigation function included in the navigation device.

Audible prompts in a vehicle navigation system

An audio signal associated with a navigation prompt is processed, based on the localization and distance information supplied by a navigation system, to generate an audio signal that, when played by an audio system in the vehicle, emulates the localization and distance information.

A terminal device includes a communication unit configured to transmit and receive information, an input unit configured to receive input of state information indicating a state of a movable object, and a controller configured to determine whether a predetermined state change has occurred in the movable object based on the input state information, acquire, as attention information, state-changed position information indicating a state-changed position that is a position of the movable object when the predetermined state change has occurred and attention voice information including an attention content for the state-changed position as voice when it is determined that the predetermined state change has occurred, and cause the communication unit to transmit the acquired attention information.

ADVERTISING MANAGEMENT IN A WIRELESS CLIENT-SERVER NAVIGATION SYSTEM

In a vehicle navigation system, advertising content is provided in a way that is noticeable, does not interfere with the navigation function of the device, and is relevant to the user's desires. If, after being provided with advertising content, the user indicates a desire to travel to a location relevant to the advertising content, the navigation system will guide him to the location with minimal further user input. In response to a user request for locations fitting certain criteria, icons indicating the position of locations fitting the criteria are displayed. Locations for which advertising information is available are indicated with an icon visually differentiable from icons for which no such information is available. When the user selects a location for which advertising content is available, the advertising content is presented. A control is also presented with which the user can command the navigation system to guide him to the selected location. If the control is activated the navigation system generates a route between the user's current location, and the selected location guides the user to the selected location. If the control is activated when the navigation system is already guiding the user along a route, the selected location is added to the current route.

Implementations claimed and described herein provide systems and methods for generating instructions for a mobile electric vehicle (EV) charging station to meet an EV at a particular time and place. In one implementation, EV trip data including a remaining range of the EV and an intended route of the EV is collected to determine a range of locations that the EV can stop at along its route without running out of power. Instructions to one of the locations are generated for a mobile EV charging station that is a best fit for arriving at the particular location and for the EV to reach the same location.
