A combination that includes: a flavonoid, for example in an amount from about 0.1 g to about 1.5 g; and one or more of: ascorbic acid, ascorbate, or a combination thereof, for example in an amount from about 0.2 g to about 2.0 g; N-acetyl cysteine, for example in an amount from about 0.10 g to about 1.2 g; alpha-lipoic acid, for example in an amount from about 0.05 g to about 0.60 g; and at least one carotenoid, for example in an amount from about 1 mg to about 50 mg. The combination may be used to mitigate or prevent nuclear DNA damage, mitochondrial DNA damage, lipid peroxidation, protein carbonylation, or any combination thereof in a subject caused by oxidative stress.

Limited release lingual thioctic acid delivery systems

The invention provides new methods of treating patients benefiting from increased blood levels of alpha-lipoic acid. Such patients may include those suffering from various physiological disorders such as diabetic neuropathy. A dissolvable tablet, not meant to be swallowed, comprising alpha-lipoic acid in a limited release matrix provides means of administering therapeutically beneficial concentrations of alpha-lipoic acid without the commonly associated oral burn. Due to its orally dissolvable nature, this rate limiting matrix can deliver approximately IV-equivalent plasma levels of thioctic acid.

Composition and method for rapidly inducing an endogenous ketosis
11583515 · 2023-02-21 ·

A composition and method for rapidly inducing a state of endogenous ketosis, the composition including: about 26.66-28.57 percent by mass of alpha lipoic acid; about 0.01-0.02 percent by mass of chromium picolinate; about 47.61-49.99 percent by mass of L-arginine; and, about 23.33-23.81 percent by mass of calcium carbonate. The method includes restricting carbohydrate consumption to a maximum dosage of about 20 grams prior to consumption of the composition and wherein consumption of the composition is on an empty stomach. About thirty minutes after consumption of the composition the user performs moderate intensity exercise. About three hours after consuming a first dose the user tests for a presence of ketones in urine utilizing at least one sodium nitroprusside urine ketone reagent strip.
