The modulator modulates at (i) a first modulation period over a first time period during the run and (ii) a second modulation period over a second time period during the run later than the first time, the second modulation period being different than the first modulation period.
MULTI-DIMENSIONAL LIQUID CHROMOTOGRAPHY WITH SECOND DIMENSION HAVING A VARIABLE FLOW RATE
A multi-dimensional liquid chromatography system includes first and second liquid chromatography systems. The first system is configured for providing a first chromatographic separation of a sample fluid comprised in a first mobile phase and to provide a first effluent including at least a portion of the separated sample fluid. The second system is configured for providing a second chromatographic separation of at least a portion of the first effluent comprised in a second mobile phase. A control unit is configured to operate the first liquid chromatography system by maintaining a first flow rate of the first mobile phase substantially constant during the first chromatographic separation, and to operate the second liquid chromatography system during the second chromatographic separation according to a control value different from the second flow rate, so that a variation in the control value can lead to a variation in the second flow rate.

This disclosure relates a device for a chromatographic system, comprising: a chamber defining an internal portion, a capillary disposed within the chamber, the capillary having an input, an output, and an elongate body extending between the input and the output, a cold finger having a first portion in thermal contact with a portion of the elongate body to define a capillary trapping zone, wherein the first portion of the cold finger extends to a second portion that is situated external to the chamber, a heater in thermal contact with the trapping zone of the capillary and configured to transfer heat to the trapping zone, a thermal buffer configured to buffer the heat from the heater into the cold finger and thereby retain the heat within the trapping zone of the capillary, a cooling device arranged external to the chamber and thermally connected to the second portion of the cold finger to define a primary conduction zone, wherein the cooling device is configured to generate a cooling temperature zone at the primary conduction zone, a controller configured to selectively alternate the trapping zone between a cooling temperature by turning off the heat and using the cooling device together with its engagement with the cold finger, and an injection temperature using the heater, wherein the heater alternates between an off state and an on state and a user defined frequency.

The present invention relates to an analysis system that is applied to rapid automatic analysis and detection of highly lipophilic components and a method for rapidly detecting vitamin D in an oil or fat, or a biological sample. In the present invention, online pretreatment and separation of a sample containing highly lipophilic components in a sample to be analyzed are performed by a multidimensional chromatography system. The multidimensional chromatography system includes a supercritical chromatography part and a reverse phase liquid chromatography part sequentially connected, the reverse phase liquid chromatography part including one or more reverse phase liquid chromatography columns, and the supercritical chromatography part including a supercritical mobile phase, a modifier, and a supercritical packed column.

MULTIDIMENSIONAL SAMPLE SEPARATION WITH PRESSURE ADJUSTMENT
A multidimensional sample separation apparatus includes a first separation dimension for separating a fluidic sample, a second separation dimension for further separating the fluidic sample, a switching mechanism, and a control unit. The first separation dimension includes a first fluid drive unit and a first sample separation unit. The second separation dimension includes a second fluid drive unit for driving the separated fluidic sample, and second and third sample separation units each configured for further separating the separated fluidic sample. The switching mechanism is configured for selectively switching an outlet of the first separation dimension in fluid communication with a selected one of the second sample separation unit and/or the third sample separation unit. The control unit is configured for controlling a pressure at inlets of the second sample separation unit and the third sample separation unit to be substantially the same at least at the time of the switching.
