A method of inhibiting adsorption of a biofouling-promoting agent on a surface of a substrate and a method of inhibiting biofilm formation on a surface of a substrate are disclosed herein. The methods comprise comprising contacting the substrate with a composition which comprises liposomes. Further disclosed herein is a composition comprising liposomes, identified for use in inhibiting adsorption of a biofouling-promoting agent on a surface of a substrate and/or inhibiting biofilm formation on a surface of a substrate. Further disclosed are articles comprising a substrate and a composition described herein being applied on a surface of the substrate, and a method of treating keratitis in a contact lens-wearing subject, by rinsing and/or immersing a contact lens in a solution comprising liposomes.

Bone treatment systems and methods

The present disclosure relates to bone cement formulations that have an extended working time for use in vertebroplasty procedures and other osteoplasty procedures together with cement injectors that include energy delivery systems for on-demand control of cement viscosity and flow parameters. The bone cement formulations may include a liquid component having at least one monomer and a non-liquid component including polymer particles and benzoyl peroxide (BPO). The non-liquid component may be further configured to allow controlled exposure of the BPO to the liquid monomer so as to enable control of the viscosity of the bone cement composition.

Ingestible formulations for transient, noninvasive reduction of gastric volume
09782348 · 2017-10-10 · ·

Provided are ingestible polymeric formulations and oral dosage forms for the reduction of gastric volume in the treatment of overweight and obese patients. The formulation includes an acid-sensitive, gelatin coating over a dehydrated hydrophilic polymer. When ingested, the acid-sensitive coating is quickly dissolved by gastric secretions and the hydrophilic polymer is exposed to the aqueous environment of the gastric milieu. The polymer absorbs water and expands to the point that will not allow the polymer to pass beyond the pyloric valve, and the expanded polymer is therefore trapped in the stomach.

A method of treatment of infection in a subject comprising administering to the subject a copolymer comprising an acrolein derived segment or a polyacrolein oligomer segment and a polyalkylene glycol oligomer segment, the copolymer having a molecular weight of no more than 1500 Daltons.

Method and use of nano-scale devices for reduction of tissue injury in ischemic and reperfusion injury

A method for protection of tissues subject to ischemic and/or reperfusion damage is provided. The method includes administering to the tissue a composition comprising nanodevices. The nanodevices can take the form of, for example, polymeric nanoparticles or lipidic nanoparticles. The nanodevices also find use in methods for reducing ischemic injury in tissue at risk of such injury, such as heart and brain tissue.
