In particular, disclosed herein is improved pediculicide compositions comprising one or more abrasive materials. The present technology is useful for treating human head lice, Pediculus humanus capitis, through abrasives to break lice and its nits. Preferably, the compositions lack toxic and regulated pediculicide active ingredients, are free of preservatives, and require only a single application to hair.
