An object is to facilitate arrangement of a plurality of wiring members in a vehicle, while enabling partial exchange and removal of the plurality of wiring members to be easily handled. Provided is a wiring system including a control unit, a plurality of devices that are connected to the control unit, a plurality of wiring members that forms at least a portion of a wiring path that connects the control unit and the plurality of devices, and a plurality of protection portions, wherein the plurality of protection portions protect the plurality of wiring members by grouping the wiring members into a plurality of groups, and the plurality of protection portions are linked in a separable manner.

Form board preparation for wire bundling

Systems and methods for designing and assembling form boards with attached wire routing devices for use in wire bundle assembly. The assembly method comprises: (a) establishing a coordinate system of a form board having a multiplicity of holes; (b) using a computer system to determine locations of form board devices of different types with reference to the coordinate system of the form board based on engineering data specifying a wire bundle configuration; and (c) fastening the form board devices of different types to respective holes of the form board having centers closest to respective locations determined in step (b). The form board devices may be inserted robotically or manually.

WIRE HARNESS

A wire harness including: an electric wire including a core wire and an insulating cover that covers the core wire; and a tube that surrounds the electric wire, wherein: the electric wire further includes a covered portion in which the core wire is covered by the insulating cover, and an exposed portion in which the core wire is exposed from the insulating cover, the exposed portion includes a bend that is bent so as to protrude in a direction orthogonal to a length direction of the core wire, and the bend is provided outside of the tube.

WIRE HARNESS

A wire harness including: an electric wire; and a tube that surrounds the electric wire, wherein: the electric wire includes: a first electric wire portion including a core wire and an insulating cover that covers the core wire, and a second electric wire portion connected to a lengthwise end of the core wire, the second electric wire portion includes a flexible portion having a higher flexibility than the first electric wire portion, the flexible portion includes a bend that is bent so as to protrude in a direction orthogonal to a length direction of the second electric wire portion, and the bend is provided outside of the tube.

Temporary holder for transferring end of wire between end effectors

Methods and apparatus for temporarily holding one end of a wire on a harness form board during automated transfer from one robot to another robot. The apparatus includes a wire holding device which is designed to facilitate the transfer of a wire end from a first end effector of a first robot to a second end effector of a second robot. The wire holding devices have different structures, but share the common feature that opening of the wire holding device (to enable wire insertion) involves applying a contact force which overcomes a spring force that urges the wire holding device to be closed. The end effectors are designed and their movements are controlled in a manner such that the moving end effector applies the contact force necessary to overcome the closure-inducing spring force being exerted.

TAPING HEAD

A taping head for taping a wire harness includes a base plate with a first aperture for receiving a wire harness. A tape dispenser with a second aperture is configured to rotate a roll of tape around the center of the first and second apertures. The taping head further includes a clamping unit configured to clamp a free end of the tape.

Method for center twisting wires

A method of twisting a pair of wires includes the steps of arranging a first wire parallel to a second wire along a longitudinal axis, securing ends of the first and second wires, and gripping outer surfaces of central portions of the first and second wires. Inner surfaces of the central portions of the first and second wires are in contact with one another. The method further includes the step of rotating the central portions of the first and second wires, thereby twisting the first and second wires about one another.
