Tactile switch for an electronic device

An electronic watch may include a tactile switch and/or one or more sensors for detecting rotational and translational inputs. The watch may include a display configured to produce graphical outputs that may change in response to rotational inputs, translational inputs, and/or touch inputs received at the display. The watch include a crown positioned along an exterior of the watch enclosure and a shaft coupled to the crown and extending into the enclosure. The tactile switch and/or the one or more sensors may be used to detect rotational and/or translational inputs provided at the crown.

SWITCH OPERATION MECHANISM

A switch operation mechanism includes: a knob configured to be rotatable about a first rotation axis; a rotor configured to be rotatable about a second rotation axis; a first transmission mechanism configured to transmit rotation of the knob to the rotor and including a slide mechanism configured to allow displacement of the knob in a first direction intersecting with the second rotation axis; and a second transmission mechanism configured to convert the displacement of the knob in the first direction into an operation of a switch.

Power seat operation device and power seat

In a power seat operation device, a slider that is supported so as to be slidable in a radial direction with respect to a dial slides toward the radial direction center of the dial during rotation of the dial. A knob engagement portion that is provided to the slider is thereby disposed between a pair of slider engagement portions that are provided to a knob. This enables rotational operation of the knob to be restricted. However, during rotational operation of the knob, one out of the pair of slider engagement portions opposes the knob engagement portion from toward the radial direction center of the dial. This enables rotational operation of the dial in conjunction with sliding of the slider to be restricted.

In a switch device, an operating knob is capable of being pushed so as to swing around a first axis from a non-operated position to a predetermined push operation position with respect to a switch case and is capable of being toggled so as to swing around a second axis that is orthogonal to the first axis from the non-operated position to a predetermined toggle operation position. A first engagement portion where the operating knob engages with a push switch is disposed on the second axis, and a second engagement portion where the operating knob engages with a toggle switch is disposed at a position closer to the first axis in a direction along the second axis than the first engagement portion where the operating knob engages with the push switch.

An input device has operation shafts whose tips project through a first elongate hole and a second elongate hole formed through an upper plate portion of a case main body and that are movable along the upper plate portion of the case main body. An operation knob is movably attached to the tips of the operation shafts. The case main body is provided with elastic support pieces that deform following the movement of the operation knob and elastically support the operation knob.

A knob with internal switches can be installed on a gear shift to provide a driver with handy access to the switches while keeping a hand on the shifter. This can be very handy during four wheeling. A particular switch can be selected by rotating the lower section of the knob to the switch position for that switch. The selected switch can be activated or closed by pulling a spring loaded sliding piece up into the knob. A lockout position prevents the lower section from rotating while detents provide tactile guidance as to when the knob is in a switch position or the lockout position.

Five-position switch

Multiple position switches and specifically in-line multiple position switches where a user has definitive points of on and off switching which are used to turn multiple redundant internal circuit switches on and off. This can provide for increased reliability of switch operation. The multi-position switch is typically a five-position switch with all five positions in-line and with double or triple redundancy at each position. The switches can also provide for the feel of a snap action mechanism between positions.

One embodiment of the disclosure includes an input module. The input module includes a switch, a rotatable and translatable input member operably connected to the switch and configured to actuate the switch, and an electrical contact operably connected to the switch and in electrical communication with the input member. During operation, the electrical connection between the input member and the electrical contact is maintained during translation and rotation of the input member. The input module may be used with a variety of electronic devices and can be used by a user to provide input to those devices.
