Apparatuses and Methods for Restraining a Lighting Fixture Selector
Systems and methods that permit initial selection of a lighting fixture output characteristic and inhibit later change of the lighting fixture output characteristic are disclosed. Embodiments include one or more devices that inhibit a lighting fixture control switch from being moved between two different positions. In some embodiments the control switch extends through an aperture in the a housing of the lighting fixture and the one or more devices are inserted into the aperture and embrace the control switch in one of the control switch's operational positions. In some embodiments the configuration of the apertures and the devices permits the devices to be inserted into the apertures in a single orientation. Some embodiments include devices with an outer surface that defines the switch embracing portion, and some embodiments include devices that are difficult to remove by hand after insertion into the aperture.
Display cover apparatus for a push button switch
A display cover apparatus having a display cover for a push button on a push button switch, a holder for the display cover, and a housing. The display cover has lock hooks and the holder has a hollow interior, a top end with lock slots that reversibly connect to the lock hooks, a bottom end, a flexible retaining washer in a groove at the bottom end, and a locking key between the top end and the bottom end. The holder is positioned on a circular shelf in an interior of the housing. The circular shelf has an internal circular flange with a locking slot that receives the locking key to prevent rotation of the holder in the housing. The flexible retaining washer is positioned beneath the flange. The circular shelf and the flexible retaining washer prevent linear movement of the holder in the housing. An alignment hook on the display cover reversibly connects to an alignment slot on the holder, thereby preventing the display cover from rotating on the holder.
Locking an enclosed switch, a bus plug or a panelboard switch
An enclosed switch, a bus plug or a panelboard switch with means to lock them in an OFF position are provided. An enclosed switch comprises an operating handle with a first hole situated at a distal end and an enclosure including a cover. The operating handle is disposed external to the enclosure. The cover having a flange including a tab formed with a second hole that is configured to be aligned with the first hole of the operating handle in order to lock the enclosed switch in an OFF position without the use of a handle guard.
WATERMARK FOR MANUFACTURING AUTHENTICITY
A method for assembling a computing device including initiating a board management controller of the computing device, the board management controller having at least one fuse, forming data to control a video display operatively connected to the computing device to show an image of a watermark, and modifying the computing device. The method also includes blowing the at least one fuse in response to modifying the computing device and adjusting the watermark in response to blowing the at least one fuse.
Method and apparatus for authenticating and detecting circuit breaker integrity
A circuit breaker apparatus may include a housing, a circuit inside the housing for protecting the conductors and the load of the circuit, a display attached to outside of the housing, a controller, and a power control device. The display may be an electronically-alterable display that does not require power in situations other than changing its state. The power control device may provide power to the controller and the display when the apparatus is being tampered with. When the controller is powered, it may cause the power control device to cause the display to change from a state that indicates that the apparatus is authenticated to another state that indicates that the apparatus has been tampered with. The power control device may include a battery and a switch, or a power harvester, which can be configured to provide power to the controller when the apparatus is being tampered with.
ELECTROMAGNETIC-BASED SENSOR WITH COLD MIRROR COVER
An electromagnetic-based sensor system includes a sensor assembly with a biometric identification sensor to determine a unique biometric characteristic of a user using a first non-visible electromagnetic radiation. Specifically, a palm vein sensor may measure a unique pattern of veins in a user's palm using near-field infrared light. A gesture sensor uses a second non-visible electromagnetic radiation, such as infrared or radio frequency to detect movement in a specific gesture pattern. An object detection sensor uses a third non-visible electromagnetic radiation to detect the presence of an object. A mirror overlies the sensor assembly and is reflective to visible light and transmissive to the non-visible electromagnetic radiation. The sensor assembly may be used within a vehicle to authenticate an individual user as an authorized user to unlock the vehicle. One or more settings of the vehicle may be set to predetermined values depending on the identity of the user.
KEYBOARD FOR SECURE DATA ENTRY
A keyboard for secure data entry is provided. The keyboard comprises at least one or more of data entry buttons that can be depressed by a user. For each of the data entry buttons, a button actuator is provided that is movable upon the user depressing the respective data entry button and a primary capacitive sensor is provided that is arranged to determine movement of the button actuator of the respective data entry button by capacitance sampling. The button actuator is at least partly made from a conductive material. The button actuator is coupled to a defined electric potential at least during the capacitance sampling to shield the primary capacitive sensor from eavesdropping.
MECHANICAL KEYPAD
Mechanical keypads are disclosed. According to one embodiment, a mechanical keypad may include a key cap comprising a post extending from a bottom surface thereof; a structural element comprising a passage configured to receive the post therethrough; and a key securing device that securely receives, through the passage, the post in a recess or opening formed therein, and comprising a key switch interface on a lower surface thereof. The key cap and the key securing device may move substantially in unison when the key post is securely received in the key securing device.
Payment terminal comprising wireless communications means
A radio-electric antenna is shaped to be positioned in proximity to an insertion hole for a smart-card reader of a payment terminal.
