Battery
A battery includes: a core cell including a first surface and a second surface which are opposite each other and on which first and second electrodes are respectively located, and a lateral surface connecting the first and second surfaces; an insulating sheet arranged on the first surface of the core cell and in which a conduction hole facing the first electrode is defined; and an electrode plate arranged on the insulating sheet and electrically connected to the first electrode through the conduction hole.
Lithium stuffed garnet setter plates for solid electrolyte fabrication
Setter plates are fabricated from Li-stuffed garnet materials having the same, or substantially similar, compositions as a garnet Li-stuffed solid electrolyte. The Li-stuffed garnet setter plates, set forth herein, reduce the evaporation of Li during a sintering treatment step and/or reduce the loss of Li caused by diffusion out of the sintering electrolyte. Li-stuffed garnet setter plates, set forth herein, maintain compositional control over the solid electrolyte during sintering when, upon heating, lithium is prone to diffuse out of the solid electrolyte.
Direct coating of electrodes in silicon-dominant anode cells
Systems and methods are provided for high volume roll-to-roll direct coating of electrodes for silicon-dominant anode cells and may include applying a slurry to a current collector film, the slurry comprising silicon particles and a binder material; drying the slurry to form a precursor composite film; rolling the current collector film into a precursor composite roll; and applying a heat treatment to the precursor composite film and the current collector film in a nitrogen gas environment, wherein the heat treatment is configured for converting the precursor composite film to a pyrolyzed composite film. The heat treatment may include one or both of: applying the heat treatment to a roll comprising the precursor composite roll in whole; and applying the heat treatment to the current collector film as it is continuously fed from the precursor composite roll.
ELECTRODE PLATE AND SECONDARY BATTERY
In a secondary battery including a large-sized electrode group including stacked positive and negative electrode plates, an electrode plate in which failures such as the separation and cracking of an active material layer and the abrasion and cracking of a current collector are unlikely to occur is provided. An electrode plate 21 includes a coated region CR where active material layers 21a are formed and an uncoated region NC where no active material layer is formed and has a configuration in which a boundary section between the coated region and the uncoated region is provided with a first buffer region C2 having a non-linear irregular shape in plan view.
TERMINAL ASSEMBLY AND ELECTRONIC DEVICE INCLUDING THE SAME
A terminal assembly includes a male terminal structure and a female terminal structure. The male terminal structure includes a male terminal body, a first terminal member, and a free terminal member. The first terminal member is disposed at the male terminal body. The free terminal member is disposed at the male terminal body and detachably in contact with the first terminal member. The female terminal structure includes a female terminal body, an extension portion, a tunnel, a second terminal member, and a secured terminal member. The extension portion is protruding from the female terminal body. The tunnel is recessed from the extension portion. The second terminal member is disposed at the female terminal body and received in the tunnel. The secured terminal member is disposed at the female terminal body, spaced from the second terminal member, and disposed on the extension portion.
BATTERY AND METHOD OF CONSTRUCTING A BATTERY
A battery and a method of constructing a battery are disclosed in which a first conductive substrate portion has a first face and a second conductive substrate portion has a second face opposed to the first face. A first electrode material is disposed in electrical contact with the first face, an electrolyte material is disposed in contact with the first electrode material, a second electrode material is disposed in contact with the electrolyte material, and a conductive tab disposed in contact with the second electrode material. The first conductive substrate portion, the first electrode material, and the conductive tab extend outward beyond a particular edge of the second conductive substrate portion.
THREE-DIMENSIONAL BATTERIES AND METHODS OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME
Various methods and apparatus relating to three-dimensional battery structures and methods of manufacturing them are disclosed and claimed. In certain embodiments, a three-dimensional battery comprises a battery enclosure, and a first structural layer within the battery enclosure, where the first structural layer has a first surface, and a first plurality of conductive protrusions extend from the first surface. A first plurality of electrodes is located within the battery enclosure, where the first plurality of electrodes includes a plurality of cathodes and a plurality of anodes, and wherein the first plurality of electrodes includes a second plurality of electrodes selected from the first plurality of electrodes, each of the second plurality of electrodes being in contact with the outer surface of one of said first plurality of conductive protrusions. Some embodiments relate to processes of manufacturing energy storage devices with or without the use of a backbone structure or layer.
BUTTON CELL HAVING WINDING ELECTRODE AND METHOD FOR THE PRODUCTION THEREOF
A rechargeable button cell having a height-to-diameter ratio less than one, including two metal housing halves separated from one another by an electrically insulating seal or film seal forming a housing having a plane bottom region and a plane top region parallel thereto is disclosed. The housing contains an electrode separator assembly comprising a positive electrode and a negative electrode inside the housing, the electrode separator assembly being provided in the form of a winding, end sides of which face in a direction of the plane bottom region and the plane top region such that layers of the electrode separator assembly are oriented essentially orthogonally to the plane bottom region and plane top region.
