Antenna assembly and antenna tuning-free method and apparatus

A quantity of antennas included in the antenna assembly is greater than a quantity of receive antennas supported by customer premises equipment (CPE). Therefore, when a network changes, the CPE may select, from a plurality of antennas included in the antenna assembly, a quantity of antennas with relatively good data transmission performance as receive antennas, where the quantity is the same as the quantity of receive antennas supported by the CPE. That is, the CPE may not need to adjust directions of antennas, but select, from a redundant quantity of set antennas, antennas with relatively good receiving performance to ensure that the CPE is aligned with a direction with relatively good signal quality.

An antenna with swappable and selective radiation direction includes a first arm, a second arm electrically connected to the first arm, a third arm is electrically connected to the first arm, a first impedance tuning circuit coupled to the second arm for connecting the second arm to a ground or a first matching component according to a control signal, and a second impedance tuning circuit coupled to the third arm for connecting the third arm to the ground or a second matching component according to the control signal. By tuning impedance of the antenna, the antenna operates in a first mode corresponding to a first radiation direction or a second mode corresponding to a second radiation direction.

SMART ANTENNA SYSTEM FOR ACHIEVING CIRCULARLY POLARIZED AND ELECTRICALLY DOWNTILTED PHASED ARRAY SIGNALS

A smart antenna system for achieving circularly polarized and electrically down tilted phased array signal is provided. The baseband transmitter transmits a baseband signal. The first voltage controlled oscillator (a) modulates the baseband signal to a plurality of phase shifted intermediate frequency signals, and the second voltage controlled oscillator (b) modulates the plurality of phase shifted intermediate frequency signals to a plurality of phase shifted radio frequency signals. The plurality of power amplifiers amplify the plurality of phase shifted radio frequency signals. The plurality of antennas radiate the plurality of phase shifted radio frequency signals for generating the phased array signals. The phased array signals achieve (i) tilting of an antenna radiation plane of the plurality of antennas from an initial position to a tilted position and (ii) transmitting the plurality of phase shifted radio frequency signals in a circular polarization.

Antenna with adjustable beam characteristics

The present invention relates to an antenna comprising multiple array elements with a first and second feeding point, each associated with orthogonal polarizations, each array element has a first and second phase centre each associated with the orthogonal polarizations, the first and second phase centres of said array elements are arranged in at least two columns, and one antenna port connected to the first and second feeding points of at least two array elements with first phase centre and second phase centre arranged in the at least two columns via a respective feeding network. The feeding network comprises a beam forming network having a primary connection, connected to the antenna port, and at least four secondary connections. The beam forming network divides power between the first feeding point and the second feeding point and controls phase shift differences between the respective feeding points with phase centre arranged in different columns.
