BEAM SHARPENING RADAR SYSTEM AND METHOD
A radar system, such as a weather radar system, includes a radar antenna and a processor. The processor is configured to cause a first radar beam to be provided using a first portion of the radar antenna. The processor is configured to cause a second radar beam to be provided using a phase adjusted portion of the antenna and a remaining portion of the radar antenna. A radar method and system can allow multiple low-loss overlapping radar beams to be rapidly generated to support a sequential lobing process which may be used to generate intra-beam target angle estimates. The production of these overlapping beams does not require mechanical antenna movement but beam selection is controlled by a simple electronic switch in some embodiments.
SECONDARY RADAR ABLE TO DETECT TARGETS AT HIGH ELEVATION
A radar is equipped with a main antenna having three radiation patterns, sum, difference and control, corresponding to the antenna, the radar comprises an auxiliary antennal device, composed of an antenna and of a rear radiating element which is situated at the rear of the antenna, fixed above the antenna and coupling means, the auxiliary antennal device: having three radiation patterns, sum, difference and control, the control pattern ensured for the direction opposite to the antenna by the rear radiating element; the antenna inclined to guarantee a maximum gain of its sum pattern in the elevational domain (60°-90°).
MULTI-PANEL MULTI-FUNCTION AESA SYSTEM
A system and method for a multi-panel multi-function active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar operation receives radar commands from individual aircraft systems and segments a plurality of AESA panels fixed (at variable azimuth/elevation about the aircraft) into a plurality of subarrays to carry out each individual function commanded by the individual aircraft system. Dependent on aircraft status and phase of flight, the and individual AESA are designated for use and the subarrays are sized based on desired radar function at the specific phase of flight and specific threat associated with the phase. The system dynamically shifts the designated AESA, subarray size, beam characteristics, power settings, and function to enable multiple simultaneous function of the suite of AESA panels.
MULTI-BEAM MULTI-FUNCTION AESA SYSTEM
A system and method for a multi-beam multi-function active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar operation receives radar commands from individual aircraft systems and segments a single AESA fixed panel into a plurality of subarrays to carry out each individual function commanded by the individual aircraft system. Dependent on aircraft status and phase of flight, the subarrays are sized based on desired radar function at the specific phase of flight and specific threat associated with the phase. The system dynamically shifts the subarray size, beam characteristics, power settings, and function to enable multiple function of a cost effective single AESA panel.
MULTIBAND SOURCE WITH COAXIAL HORN HAVING MONOPULSE TRACKING SYSTEMS FOR A REFLECTOR ANTENNA
The invention relates to a source for a reflector antenna, comprising: a pseudo-cavity, a first sigma excitation device for exciting the pseudo-cavity in such a way as to generate a sum channel signal via a coaxial waveguide, a second excitation device for exciting the pseudo-cavity in such a way as to generate a difference channel signal, the second device comprising eight probes angularly distributed around a principal emission axis of the source, and a difference supply circuit for supplying the eight excitation probes according to the two modes TE.sub.21.
FMCW radar sensor
An FMCW radar sensor having a plurality of antenna elements at a distance from one another in a row, to each of which is assigned a mixer, which produces an intermediate frequency signal, and an evaluation unit that is designed to record the intermediate frequency signal over a measurement period as a function of time and to convert the time signal into a spectrum, and having an angular measuring device in which the spectra obtained from the evaluation devices are evaluated in separate channels. The sensor further including a beamforming device to carry out a beamforming for the signal received from a specified preferred direction by compensating run length differences of the signal to the antenna elements, a summation device forming a sum spectrum through coherent addition of the spectra, and a distance measuring device determining distances of objects in the preferred direction on the basis of the sum spectrum.

Device and method for determining the position of a transmitter relative to a detection region
What is disclosed is a device for determining a piece of information on a position of a transmitter, having an antenna device and a data processing device. The antenna device receives signals emanating from the transmitter and has a distinguished directional characteristic which relates to a set of spatially different receive sensitivities of the antenna device. The distinguished directional characteristic has a sensitivity minimum associated to a spatial detection region. The data processing device evaluates the signals received from the antenna device with the distinguished directional characteristic, as regards the position of the transmitter relative to the detection region. In addition, a corresponding method is disclosed.
