ELECTRICAL CONNECTION DEVICES FOR HIGH POWER APPLICATIONS
20210111505 · 2021-04-15 ·

The disclosure describes a high-power electrical connector providing blind-mating and an environmental sealing connector with a bus bar interfaces that features positional alignment and low friction mating. The electrical connector includes a receptacle with a bus bar electrically isolated from nearby connectors. The connector further includes a plug configured to mate with the receptacle. The plug includes several electrical contacts configured to make an electrical connection to the bus bar of the receptacle, when mated. Within the plug, tensioning device for each electrical contact applies a spring force to the contact. The electrical contacts are sized and positioned to match the bus bar geometry for balanced current flow and to avoid interface internal heating. The electrical connector of this disclosure may be desirable for application in which power electronics interface with other electronics.

Printed circuit board with embedded lateral connector
10971836 · 2021-04-06 · ·

Printed circuit boards (PCBs) may include embedded lateral connectors. The embedded lateral connectors may be configured to enable components to quickly couple to or plug into a PCB, thus saving time to form connections. The embedded lateral connectors may also reduce weight and/or size by avoiding need for bulky tradition collections with conventional components (e.g., solders, external pin connectors, etc.). The connectors may include male connectors, female connectors, and/or mounting connectors. The connectors may be configured to connect multiple PCBs together, such as using a stacked configuration, which may enable reducing a volume of space needed in a housing for the PCBs.

Power connector with integrated status monitoring

An electrical power system including an electrical power connector, a contact configured to electrically connect a power supply to a load, a first sensor configured to sense a first characteristic of the electrical power connector, a second sensor configured to sense a second characteristic of the electrical power connector, and an electronic controller. The electronic controller configured to receive the first and the second characteristics, analyze the first and second characteristics, and determine an abnormal condition based on the analysis.

ENERGY HARVEST SPLIT CORE DESIGN ELEMENTS FOR EASE OF INSTALLATION, HIGH PERFORMANCE, AND LONG TERM RELIABILITY

A power line sensing device is provided that can include a number of features. In one embodiment, a power line sensing device includes a split-core transformer comprising a first core half having a first core face and a second core half having a second core face. The first core face and/or the second core face are covered with a protective film. The power line sensing device further includes a mechanism that, when the power line sensing device is installed, removes the protective film and joins the first core face to the second core face around a power line conductor.

Energy harvest split core design elements for ease of installation, high performance, and long term reliability

A power distribution monitoring system is provided that can include a number of features. The system can include a plurality of power line sensing devices configured to attach to individual conductors on a power grid distribution network. In some embodiments, the power line sensors can include a split-core transformer. In some embodiments, a power line sensing device is disposed on each conductor of a three-phase network. The sensing devices can be configured to measure and monitor, among other things, current and electric-field on the conductors. Methods of installing, sealing, and protecting the split-core transformers of the power line sensors are also discussed.

Rotatable and Wet-Mateable Connector
20210013687 · 2021-01-14 · ·

A mating connector that is rotatable and wet-mateable is disclosed herein. The connector has mating components that can be characterized as male and female. The connector may have one or more electrical and/or non-electrical contacts. As used herein, wet-mateable or wet-connectable means proper mating of the male and female components can be achieved even in the presence of conductive fluid. Being rotatable means the male and female components can be rotated independently during the mating process. A male component of a rotatable and wet-mateable mating connector is provided that has conductive and non-conductive sealing elements. A female component of the rotatable and wet-mateable mating connector is provided having conductive elements that are complementary to the male component. The male component is inserted into a chamber within the female component to produce the rotatable and wet-mateable mating connector.

A surgical device and method of processing includes a cable and a first adapter. The adapter includes a body, an electrical contact connected to the cable, and an engagement assembly. The engagement assembly includes a latch coupling or a communication coupling. The latch coupling is movable between a locked and an unlocked position and includes a catch member. The communication coupling is configured to be resiliently biased into engagement between the electrical contact and an instrument or generator.

BRUSH HOLDER ASSEMBLY MONITORING APPARATUS, ASSEMBLY, SYSTEM AND METHOD
20200388974 · 2020-12-10 · ·

Methods and systems for monitoring a brush holder assembly and/or detecting wear of a brush in a brush holder assembly are disclosed. One method includes sending data from a plurality of remote monitoring locations to a central control unit, where the data may be evaluated in order to monitor states of brushes at a plurality of remote electrical facilities. For example, multiple images of a marker tracking longitudinal movement of the brush may be acquired. A comparison of the images, for example, a comparative imaging technique, such as pixel-by-pixel comparison, may then be performed in order to evaluate a condition of the brush, such as the wear rate, wear state, or life expectancy of the brush.
