Method of forming a foldable or collapsible plastic and/or composite utility enclosure
A method of forming and assembling a foldable plastic utility enclosure using molds to form sides of the enclosure, preferably using glass fiber-reinforced thermoplastic composite. The molds are constructed to form a central hole in hinge members which are formed on ends of the sides. The central hole of the hinge member is molded with two molding parts, wherein one or both of the molding parts have a solid central portion that forms the central hole. The sides are removed from the molds after curing and the sides are assembled to form the utility enclosure while the sides are still hot from the molding process. Hinge pins are inserted into the central holes of the hinge members to form hinges and to prevent the sides from warping during cooling. Assembling the sides and inserting hinge pins to form the utility enclosure is completed within approximately 10 minutes after removing the sides from the molds.
Foldable and/or collapsible plastic/composite utility enclosure
A lid for a utility enclosure having a front end, a rear end, a right side, a left side, a top lid portion, and a bottom, defining an interior. Large reinforcement ribs are on an interior surface of the top lid portion and form a lattice-type structure. Small reinforcement ribs are mounted in spaces formed by the lattice type structure. The lid is made of glass fiber-reinforced polypropylene and metal bars or rebar are embedded in the large reinforcement ribs. The metal bars are positioned near a bottom of the large reinforcement ribs and spaced above the bottom. The physical structure of the lid and the lid's composition, consisting essentially of glass fiber-reinforced polypropylene, are constructed so that the lid withstands up to 33,750 pounds of force without breaking or being deformed.
SHIELDED SELF-LATCHING LOCKING ASSEMBLY FOR A UTILITY VAULT
A shielded locking system for securely closing a lid on an enclosure, such as a grade level utility vault, including an L-bolt connected to a spring-biased slide member positioned on the underside of the lid that rotates in a slotted housing that securely retains the L-bolt under the lid, the slide member engaging an abutment on the inside of the enclosure when the lid is forced down over an opening in the enclosure by downward force on the lid which progressively causes the latch to retract against the spring-bias from contact with the abutment and then snaps the latch into a spring-biased locking position under the abutment, and a non-conductive cover positioned over and connected to the locking system to shield the L-bolt from electrical conductivity from within the enclosure.
Method for encasing underground electrical cables
A method for encasing underground electrical cables, includes (a) providing a fresh concrete composition including a paste that includes a hydraulic binder, a mineral addition and water, the paste being present in a mixture with sand and aggregates, whereby the paste is present in the concrete composition in a volume of <320 L/m.sup.3 and/or the solid volume fraction of said paste is >50 vol.-% and (b) placing the fresh concrete composition so as to encase the underground cables therewith.
Foldable and/or collapsible plastic/composite utility enclosure
A foldable extension enclosure for a utility enclosure having first, second, third, and fourth sides connected by hinges. The extension enclosure folds only in one direction. A first end of the first side slidably overlaps a second opposite end of the third side and a first end of the second side slidably overlaps a second opposite end of the fourth side. A second opposite end of the first side abuts a first end of the fourth side and a first end of the third side abuts a second opposite end of the second side. There is an internal top ledge on each side in an interior near a top end of the extension enclosure and an external bottom ledge on each side on an exterior near a bottom end of the extension enclosure to mount the extension enclosure to the utility enclosure through mounting holes. The mounting holes are in the sides between the top ledge and the top end and between the bottom ledge and the bottom end. The extension enclosure folds with the utility enclosure.
POWER TRANSMISSION UNDERGROUND CABLE WINDING DEVICE AND POWER TRANSMISSION UNDERGROUND CABLE SPREADING SYSTEM COMPRISING SAME
The present invention relates to a power transmission underground cable winding device and a power transmission underground cable spreading system comprising same and, more specifically, to: a power transmission underground cable winding device for installing a power transmission three-phase underground cable in an underground power tunnel or conduit; and a power transmission underground cable spreading system comprising same.

Irrigation control wiring system
An irrigation control wiring system includes an irrigation control valve box embedded into an earthen surface and defines an interior cavity below the earthen surface. The system further includes a removable cover adapted for installation over a top opening of the valve box and a back plate attached to an interior surface of the removable cover. The back plate includes multiple wire connectors. A bundle of wires passes into the interior cavity through a first opening in the valve box with each wire having a proximal end connected to at least one of the connectors and a distal end connected to a microcontroller remotely disposed from the valve box. Finally, the system includes individual wires, each coupled to a different one of the connectors at a proximal end and at a distal end to a respective sprinkler remotely disposed from the valve box within a sprinkler zone.
Tool for Opening Underground Power Transformers
The present invention is a tool designed for opening the electrical transformer boxes used for underground power line installations from a position of safety for the person who needs to open the box to make repairs. The tool consists of a long telescoping handle on top of which is a partially enclosed roller and a strap positioned over the roller. At one end of the strap is a hook to connect to the latch on the electrical transformer box and at the other end of the strap is a hand grip for the user. The user pulls on the strap, which in turns goes taut and opens the electrical transformer box. The long handle is telescoping to make the tool easer to transport and store.
APPARATUS TO LIMIT EVENT ENERGY
An apparatus for limiting event energy in an underground structure having free space includes: an inner layer configured to envelope and seal an interior volume; an outer layer configured to envelope the inner layer; and, wherein the interior volume includes a volume-occupying material, having a solid material, a semi-solid material, a gaseous material, or any combination of the solid, the semi-solid, and the gaseous material.
