Systemic optimization of photovoltaic apparatus
A photovoltaic system may include a first photovoltaic component having local power optimization functionality to process power at a first level, a second photovoltaic component to process power at a second level, and optimization logic to command the first photovoltaic component to accommodate system-level power optimization. The first component may be reconfigurable to accommodate the system-level optimization. The entire system may be dynamically reconfigured to continuously operate at the highest overall level of system efficiency.
Systems and methods for distributing power in a Power-to-the-Edge system architecture
Systems and methods for distributing power in a power-to-the-edge system architecture are provided. In one embodiment, a system comprises an intelligent power switch configured to couple to a power supply, wherein the intelligent power switch outputs a first differential voltage output; and a plurality of intelligent remote nodes each comprising a management microcontroller (MCU) and a DC-to-DC converter. The intelligent remote nodes each receive the differential voltage output, and are communicatively coupled to a data network. The intelligent power switch comprises a processor executing an intelligent start-up control and switching function and an electrical fault detection function. The intelligent power switch outputs the differential voltage at a first voltage level while the electrical fault detection function monitors the differential voltage output. Based on results of monitoring at the first voltage level, the intelligent power switch switches the output to a second voltage level higher than the first voltage level.

Method for operating an energy supply unit for a motor vehicle electrical system
A method for operating an energy supply unit for a motor vehicle electrical system, including at least one first subsystem and one second subsystem having different voltage levels, the energy supply unit including an electric machine which is connected via a converter circuit to the first subsystem and the second subsystem. In a first operating mode, a switchable switch element of the converter circuit which connects the converter circuit to the second subsystem is opened, the converter circuit is activated as an inverter circuit and the electric machine is motor or generator operated. In a second operating mode, the switchable switch element of the converter circuit is closed, the converter circuit is activated as a DC-DC converter and the DC-DC conversion takes place between the voltage levels of the first and the second subsystem.

Stable electrical power system with regulated transformer rectifier unit
A method and apparatus for providing power stably for direct current loads. A regulated transformer rectifier unit is controlled to provide regulated direct current power for the direct current loads at an output of the regulated transformer rectifier unit from alternating current power provided by an alternating current power source to an input of the regulated transformer rectifier unit. The direct current loads comprise passive direct current loads and active direct current loads comprising active switching power supplies. The direct current loads have at least one of constant power characteristics, resistive power characteristics, inductive power characteristics, and capacitive power characteristics. A source impedance at the output of the regulated transformer rectifier unit is determined based on an aggregate load impedance of the direct current loads and stability criterion.
