Hydrogen Expander Magnetic Generator Apparatus and Method

A hydrogen expander magnetic generator apparatus can include a magnetic generator to recover energy. Embodiments can utilize a permanent magnetic motor (PM) and energy conversion system (ECS) for converting energy from a rotating shaft of a turboexpander. Some embodiments can position magnets on the shaft such that the magnets are protected from exposure to hydrogen to avoid damage to the magnets. Some embodiments can include retrofitting of a pre-existing expander to remove an oil brake and replace it with an embodiment of the PM and ECS.

Vehicle linear motor

A vehicle linear motor includes: a tubular casing; a pair of armatures placed and fixed in the casing; a mover formed in a flat plate shape and placed to face the pair of armatures and to be movable in the casing; and a support member configured to slidably support the mover such that the mover moves in a longitudinal direction of the mover. The mover formed in the flat plate shape includes a plurality of magnets that are arranged at intervals in the longitudinal direction. Each of the pair of armatures has a magnetic pole that is arranged to move the mover relative to the armatures in the longitudinal direction. The casing is mounted on a vehicle such that the longitudinal direction is a horizontal direction, and the mover and the armatures are placed to face each other in the horizontal direction.

Wind turbine having superconducting generator and method of operating the same

A wind turbine is presented. The wind turbine includes a rotor having a plurality of blades. The wind turbine further includes a shaft coupled to the rotor. Moreover, the wind turbine includes a superconducting generator coupled to the rotor via the shaft. The superconducting generator includes an armature configured to be rotated via the shaft. The superconducting generator further includes a stationary field disposed concentric to and radially outward from the armature.

Fault-tolerant electrical generator operable with partial power

An electrical machine with a rotor or the stator including a plurality of discrete field modules, and the other one of the rotor and the stator including a plurality of armature coils connected to different power converters. Each field module includes one or more field coils which can be activated independent of the field coils of the neighbouring field modules. When at least one of the field coils is inactivated, e.g. because of a defect, each of the power converters is allowing less power to pass through when an armature coil connected to it is moving over an inactivated field coil, and more power to pass through when the armature coil connected to it is moving over an activated field coil.
