An upper body of the upper insulator comprises: a first side wall part; a second side wall part arranged to the spaced apart from the first side wall part; and a first cover part extending from an end of the first side wall part and connected to an end on one side of the second side wall part, wherein the number of a plurality of first grooves formed on the first side wall part is different from the number of a plurality of second grooves formed on the second side wall part. Accordingly, when a coil with an increased diameter is used, the performance of the motor can be improved by implementing asymmetric wiring of the coil by using the insulator for guiding the arrangement of the coil.

A rotating electric machine includes a multi-phase armature coil having phase windings each constituted of a plurality of partial windings, and a winding support member supporting the partial windings from a radially outer or radially inner side thereof. Each of the partial windings has a pair of intermediate conductor portions and a pair of bridging portions connecting the pair of intermediate conductor portions. All the intermediate conductor portions of the partial windings are arranged in alignment with each other in a circumferential direction. In each of the partial windings, insulating members are mounted respectively on the bridging portions of the partial winding. Brackets are provided respectively in corresponding ones of the insulating members of the partial windings in such a manner as to partially protrude from the corresponding insulating members. Protruding portions of the brackets, which protrude from the corresponding insulating members, are mechanically joined to the winding support member.

The end turns extend from the in-slot portions at ends of the core. The leads extend from the in-slot portions and axially past the end turns. A bus bar assembly is positioned radially inward from the end turns. The bus bar assembly includes an arc portion, a plurality of axial lead connectors, and a plurality of axial phase terminals. The arc portion is positioned axially within the end turns. The axial lead connectors extend axially past the end turns and are connected to the leads. The axial phase terminals also extend axially past the end turns.

An electric motor comprises a stator presenting a first surface. A rotor is rotatable relative to the stator. The rotor presents a rotor raceway disposed in spaced relationship with the first surface of the stator. The first surface of the stator defines a plurality of slots in spaced relationship with one another to define a plurality of spaced teeth between the slots. At least one electrical conductor is disposed in each of the slots and configured to selectively create a moving magnetic field for acting upon the rotor for providing rotational movement of the rotor. A portion of the at least one electrical conductor extends substantially into radial alignment with, or past the first surface of the stator to at least partially define a stator raceway of the stator for engaging the rotor raceway of the rotor during relative radial movement between the rotor and the stator.
