FULL DUPLEX EXPANDER IN A FULL DUPLEX NETWORK
20210167936 · 2021-06-03 ·

In one embodiment, a method receives a downstream signal and an upstream signal in a same frequency band. The downstream signal and the upstream signal are separated into a first path and a second path. The downstream signal using the first path and the upstream signal using the second path are amplified in an analog domain. The method isolates the downstream signal and the upstream signal from one another and sends the downstream signal downstream to a subscriber device and sends the upstream signal towards a full duplex node.

SWITCHLESS BI-DIRECTIONAL AMPLIFIER USING NEUTRALIZED DIFFERENTIAL PAIR

A bi-directional amplifier (BDA) comprises a first pair of amplifier transistors and a second pair of amplifier transistors, wherein the first pair of amplifier transistors are cross-coupled with the second pair of amplifier transistors, and wherein the first pair of amplifier transistors and the second pair of amplifier transistors each comprise a differential common-emitter (CE) pair (or common-source (CS) pair) with equal transistor size or different transistor size. The BDA further comprises a plurality of blocking capacitors to decouple the collector and the base biases of the first pair of amplifier transistors and the second pair of amplifier transistors. Alternatively or additionally, the BDA further comprises two input/output baluns, through which a common voltage bias is applied to the collectors of each of the differential CE pairs (or drains of CS pairs in some implementations). The baluns enable single-ended measurement and characterization.

Embodiments describe systems, apparatuses, and methods for transmitting/receiving signal data to/from a plurality of transceiver modules. Devices in accordance with some embodiments can include a plurality of wireless transceiver modules, each wireless transceiver module to be communicatively coupled to a corresponding external transceiver module, one or more antennas to exchange signal data with the plurality of external transceiver modules, a radio frequency (RF) circulator, and one or more amplifiers to amplify the signal data received by the one or more antennas and signal data to be transmitted by the one or more antennas. The use of the RF circulator prevents transmitting signals that may collide with each other and cause interference with the communications.

RF signal amplifier with combined active and passive port

The present invention is directed to a bi-directional RF signal amplifier that includes both an active communications path and a passive communications path. The circuitry is simplified and the housing size is reduced by having one port which functions as part of the active communications path when the bi-directional RF signal amplifier is powered, and that functions as part of the passive communications path when the bi-directional RF signal amplifier is unpowered.
