Systems and Methods for Optimizing Amplifier Operations
Methods and systems for optimizing amplifier operations are described. The described methods and systems particularly describe a feed-forward control circuit that may also be used as a feed-back control circuit in certain applications. The feed-forward control circuit provides a control signal that may be used to configure an amplifier in a variety of ways.
POWER AMPLIFIER MANAGEMENT
A method includes receiving first data associated with a first power amplifier and second data associated with a second power amplifier. The method also includes generating a first amplitude limiting signal having gain parameters that are based on the first data and the second data. The first data includes at least one of a temperature measurement associated with the first power amplifier, a supply voltage measurement associated with the first power amplifier, a load resistance associated with the first power amplifier, or a gain associated with the first power amplifier. The method further includes modifying an audio signal based at least in part on the first amplitude limiting signal to generate a first gain-adjusted audio signal. The method also includes providing a first output audio signal to the first power amplifier for amplification. The first output audio signal is based at least in part on the first gain-adjusted audio signal.
Multi-channel cinema amplifier with power-sharing, messaging and multi-phase power supply
An integrated cinema amplifier comprises a power supply stage that distributes power over a plurality of channels for rendering immersive audio content in a surround sound listening environment. The amplifier automatically detects maximum and net power availability and requirements based on audio content by decoding audio metadata and dynamically adjusts gains to each channel or sets of channels based on content and operational/environmental conditions. A power supply stage provides power to drive a plurality of channels corresponding to speaker feeds to a plurality of speakers. The amplifier has a front panel having an LED array with each LED associated with a respective channel or group of channels of the multi-channel amplifier, and a control unit configured to light the LEDs according to display patterns based on operating status or error conditions of the amplifier.
Methods and devices for predistortion of signals
A method for predistorting an input signal of an amplifier device comprises evaluating a selection criterion for a computational model of the amplifier device. The computational model provides an output signal of the amplifier device for the input signal of the amplifier device. Further, the method comprises selecting between a first computational model of the amplifier device and a second computational model of the amplifier device based on the evaluated selection criterion. Additionally, the method comprises predistorting the input signal of the amplifier device using the selected computational model.
RADIO-FREQUENCY MODULE AND COMMUNICATION APPARATUS
A radio-frequency module includes a multilayer substrate, a first semiconductor device, a second semiconductor device, and an anisotropic conductive resin component. The multilayer substrate includes a plurality of stacked layers, and has a first major face and a second major face. The first major face includes a first recess. The first semiconductor device is mounted over a bottom face of the first recess with the anisotropic conductive resin component interposed therebetween. The second semiconductor device is mounted over the first major face so as to overlie the first recess. The first semiconductor device is connected with a metallic via that extends through a portion of the multilayer substrate from the bottom face of the first recess to the second major face.
Thermal temperature sensors for power amplifiers
Thermal temperature sensors for power amplifiers are provided herein. In certain implementations, a semiconductor die includes a compound semiconductor substrate, and a power amplifier including a plurality of field-effect transistors (FETs) configured to amplify a radio frequency (RF) signal. The plurality of FETs are arranged on the compound semiconductor substrate as a transistor array. The semiconductor die further includes a semiconductor resistor configured to generate a signal indicative of a temperature of the transistor array. The semiconductor resistor is located adjacent to one end of the transistor array.

A method and system for linearizing a Radio Frequency Power Amplifier (RFPA) is disclosed. The method comprises calibrating signals in the RFPA to linearize the RFPA, using at least one of a first signal, a second signal, a third signal, and a fourth signal. The first signal is generated corresponding to ambient temperature. The second signal is generated corresponding to process corner of transistors in the RFPA. The third signal is generated corresponding to power supply voltage. The fourth signal is generated by feeding back output of the RFPA.
