NOVEL POLYPEPTIDES AND MEDICAL USES THEREOF
The present invention provides polypeptides comprising or consisting of an amino acid sequence derived from collagen type VI or a fragment, variant, fusion or derivative thereof, or a fusion of said fragment, variant of derivative thereof, wherein the polypeptide, fragment, variant, fusion or derivative is capable of killing or attenuating the growth of microorganisms. Related aspects of the invention provide corresponding isolated nucleic acid molecules, vectors and host cells for making the same. Additionally provided are pharmaceutical compositions comprising a polypeptide of the invention, as well as methods of use of the same in the treatment and/or prevention of microbial infections and in wound care. Also provided are a method of killing microorganisms in vitro and a medical device associated with the pharmaceutical composition.
BIORESORBABLE DRESSING WITH STRUCTURAL SUPPORT
The technology described in this application provides a dressing (as well as uses, systems, and methods including such dressing) that includes a contact layer with a first surface configured to contact a tissue site in a subject and includes a scaffold configured to structurally support the contact layer, where the contact layer includes a bioresorbable material. The dressing may advantageously exhibit protease-modulating activity under physiological conditions.
COLLAGEN NANOPARTICLES FROM SCALY FISH SKIN
Disclosed are collagen nanoparticles obtained from waste scaly skins from fish by using a micro fluid technique, a method for obtaining the collagen nanoparticles, and their field of use.
ABSORPTION AND FILTRATION MEDIA
Disclosed are keratin fibre cellular components, specifically keratin fibre cuticle and cortical cells, and their use as absorption and filtration media, and in thermal insulation materials. The keratin fibre cellular components may be oxidised. The keratin fibre cellular components have improved absorbency and filtration capacity compared to the source keratin fibres. The keratin fibre cellular components may be used in, for example, various products for passive absorption and active filtration of gas or liquid media.

Amoeba therapeutic dressings, biomaterials, and solutions
A method of treating or preventing a microbial infection in a subject is described. The method includes contacting a microorganism within the subject with a composition comprising one or more species of amoebae of the genus Willaertia. Antibiotic wound dressings and kits for providing amoeba for treatment or prevention of microbial infection in a subject are also described.
COMPOSITIONS HAVING CYLINDRICAL VOLUME, METHODS, AND APPLICATORS FOR SEALING INJURIES
Disclosed are solid and frozen haemostatic materials having a rod shape and suitable applicators and plungers for application of such dressings to wounded tissue wherein said dressings consisting essentially of a fibrinogen component and a fibrinogen activator. Also disclosed are methods of treating internal wounded tissue in a mammal by applying one or more of these haemostatic materials and dressings, particularly for the treatment of injured tissue via endoscopic or minimally-invasive surgical techniques.

POLYFUNCTIONAL RADICAL SCAVENGER HYDROGEL FORMULATION
A polyfunctional radical scavenger hydrogel formulation providing extended protection of the extracellular space within a wound site. The polyfunctional radical scavenger hydrogel formulation is generally formed from a hydrogel, a first radical scavenger and a second radical scavenger differing from the first radical scavenger with respect to at least one property. A portion of the first radical scavenger included with the formation and/or second radical scavenger included within the formulation may be dissolved, suspended and/or bonded to a polymer of the hydrogel.
Napped Coated Wound Dressing
The present invention is directed to an absorbable hemostatic patch that utilizes a biocompatible fibrous, fabric substrate that is melt-blown and napped or loosened at the surface, with the substrate having a low-profile, high flexibility, strength and porosity that is suitable for coating cross-linkable active molecules and ultimately effective for use as a hemostat in situations of problematic bleeding.
