Remote Multichannel Audio and Video Monitoring and Diagnostics for Broadcast Signals
20230188234 · 2023-06-15 ·

Remote handling of signal integrity is described. Specifically, remote monitoring of audio and video signals for multiple broadcast channels is described. The goal of the described remote monitoring system is to be a single point solution for a broad range of monitoring needs for the customer. As a result, the solution described here can scale across a broad range of signals that needs to be monitored from any physical locations across the globe. The remote monitoring system comprises a plurality of probes, various backend servers and user interface for dedicated personnel to ensure compliance of signals with broadcast standards.

Service Based Testing
20170331707 · 2017-11-16 · ·

Some tests can be implemented as services. A network provider can deploy (“push”) a test to a container resident on one or more devices of the network, either at installation, periodically, or when a problem is reported. When a customer reports an issue, services running on one or more devices of the customer's installation can cause the containerized tests to be run. For example, the central office of the network provider can initiate a request to run the test through the internet (or other connection) by the container. In some implementations, there is an overlap of the service based test set with traditional technician initiated test sets forming a hybrid testing architecture.

System and method for determining an inactive television channel

An image analysis system and method determines whether a channel is active by intercepting signals from a set-top box and determining whether the signals correspond to an inactive channel by analyzing pixels, recognized text and/or audio in the signal stream. The system and method controls tuning of the set-top box to each channel to be tested. Data relating to the analysis may be stored and transmitted for processing credit requests.

ANTENNA METER APP
20220060651 · 2022-02-24 ·

Disclosed is an over-the-air (OTA) antenna meter application (“meter app”) that wirelessly connects to an OTA antenna meter (“meter”) installed with an OTA antenna and presents information that facilitates a user in installing the OTA antenna at the premises of a customer. For example, the meter app can help the user in pointing and peaking the OTA antenna for one or more broadcast channels, e.g., those selected by the customer. The meter app can store installation information of the OTA antenna for various installations, which can be used in generating a recommendation of, or predicting, installation information for installing the OTA antenna at a specified address. The predicted installation information can include broadcast channels that would be available for reception at the specified address and their signal strength, a specific location of installation on the premises, or whether a pre-amplifier and/or filter is required.

OVER-THE-AIR RADIO BROADCAST SIGNAL METADATA
20170310411 · 2017-10-26 ·

Over-the-air radio broadcast signals are commonly used to deliver a variety of programming content (e.g., audio, etc.) to radio receiver systems. Supplemental data (e.g., metadata) may be provided to radio broadcast receiver systems, where such supplemental data is associated with the programming content delivered via the over-the-air radio broadcast signals. In exemplary embodiments described herein, a radio receiver system receives both (i) primary programming content via over-the-air radio broadcast transmission, and (ii) metadata related to the programming content via wireless Internet. This use of metadata provides a user with an enhanced experience regardless of the type of terrestrial broadcast signal that is received at the user's radio receiver system. Users receiving radio broadcast signals at a receiver system may view images, videos, multimedia displays, text, etc., that is related to the programming content received via the over-the-air radio broadcast signals.

SYSTEM AND METHOD OF BI-DIRECTIONAL COMMUNICATION FOR POSITION SENSORS INVOLVING SUPERPOSITION OF DATA OVER LOW VOLTAGE DC POWER USING TWO CONDUCTORS

A communication system that involves superimposing data over DC power. The data takes the form of high bitrate digital signals, where the bitrate is much higher than 0 Hz (DC); this separation allows the AC signal to be easily separated from the DC power. The physical system consists of a two conductor cable, and integration is modular, in that multiple slaves can be connected and disconnected to a master through a routing bus also comprising two conductors. The master can communicate bi-directionally with the slave(s), and the data is encoded using DC-balanced encoding in an FPGA. The data is sent to and from a differential signaling transmitter/receiver pairs at each end of the cable. The system is may be used with position sensors, and provides the benefit of reducing cable costs and sensor size due to the decrease in number of conductors and elimination of power components in the sensor.

Digital video broadcasting—terrestrial (DVB-T) system and modulation method thereof

The present invention provides a digital video broadcasting-terrestrial (DVB-T) system and modulation method thereof. The system comprises a transmission module and a receiving module. The transmission module modulates a video signal to a DVB-T signal. The receiving module receives the DVB-T signal via a transmission line and demodulates the DVB-T signal to the video signal, and at the same time, monitoring the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) or bit error rate (BER), and quantizes them to a reference data. The receiving module transmits the reference data to the transmission module through the same transmission line. The system can determine a control parameter according to the reference data to set the modulation parameter of the DVB-T signal.
