A broadcast receiving device for receiving a transmitted service by using an MPEG Media Transport (MMT) protocol includes a tuner configured to receive Service Layer Signaling (SLS); a memory storing one or more instructions; and a processor configured to execute the one or more instructions stored in the memory to obtain information of one or more contents constituting the service, from an MMT Package (MP) table included in the SLS, determine whether there is second content that is the same as first content being currently received through a first transfer path and is received through a different transfer path from a transfer path of the first content, among the one or more contents, based on the information of the one or more contents, and perform, when there is the second content, a handoff of a content receiving channel from the first transfer path to a second transfer path corresponding to the second content to receive the second content.

BROADCAST SIGNAL PLAYBACK METHOD, MAP GENERATION METHOD, AND APPARATUS
20230208541 · 2023-06-29 ·

The application discloses example methods and apparatuses for map generation and for playing broadcast signals. One example map generation method includes receiving multiple pieces of first information, where each piece of the multiple pieces of first information includes a corresponding positioning location of a corresponding terminal, strength of a broadcast signal modulated at a first modulation frequency and received by the corresponding terminal at the corresponding positioning location, and the first modulation frequency. A broadcast signal strength layer is generated according to the multiple pieces of first information, where the broadcast signal strength layer represents a first coverage range corresponding to a first strength range of a broadcast signal modulated at the first modulation frequency.

Methods and systems for content navigation among programs presenting advertising content

Systems and methods for aiding user content navigation are described. An exemplary system may include an electronic device configured to receive audiovisual content and/or user inputs. The electronic device may additionally include one or more outputs coupled with a display device. The electronic device may further include one or more processors as well as memory, which when executed by the one or more processors, cause them to perform one or more navigation functions to receive a channel change command to adjust from a first channel to a second channel. The one or more processors may further be caused to determine that the second channel is presenting advertising content instead of program content, and determine that a third channel is presenting program content. The one or more processors may further be caused to adjust the output to the third channel.

Accessing radio content from a non-radio source

Systems and methods are provided for accessing broadcast media items and segments from non-broadcast sources. In response to detecting that a user has not finished listening to a broadcast segment (e.g., a radio segment), an electronic device can automatically identify and access an alternate, non-broadcast source for the same broadcast segment (e.g., a corresponding podcast episode). Using the electronic device, a user can play back the segment from the non-broadcast source, starting playback at the last position of the broadcast segment when the user stopped listening to the broadcast. In some embodiments, the electronic device can update library counts (e.g., play counts and new/not new tags) based on media items and segments played back as part of a media broadcast.

Digital switching signal sequence for switching purposes, apparatus for including said digital switching signal sequence in a digital audio information signal, and apparatus for receiving the information signal provided with the switching signal sequence
09831968 · 2017-11-28 · ·

A digital switching signal sequence is realized as a previously digitized, high-pass filtered white noise signal of a predetermined length T, with a high-pass cut-off frequency which lies above the frequency where the loudness threshold characteristic in silence of the human hearing has its highest sensitivity, if possible. The switching signal sequence is employed for switching purposes (206), e.g., for switching between two information signals (201, 207).
