System and method of frame alignment at a receiver with power optimization mechanisms. A framer uses one or more comparators to search for the FAW in the incoming data, with each comparator configured to serially compare multiple windows of a parallel M-bit block (as provided from a parallel data bus) with the FAW. Multiple comparators in the framer may operate in parallel to search for the FAW at different windows. This configuration can significantly reduce the comparator count and so the gate count as well as the chip area in a framer. Power consumption can be advantageously reduced as one comparator operating serially consumes less power than multiple comparators in parallel because less gate toggling is involved.

An exclusive disjunction combinatorial circuit is configured to receive the input data and the repetitions thereof and to generate a discontinuity-detection signal for codeword alignment responsive to successive linear combination by exclusive disjunction of the input data and the repetitions thereof to cancel out portions of repeated sequences of the input data for detection of at least one type of discontinuity in the input data.

In order to reduce ambiguity in NB-SSS and complexity of receiver processing, a transmitter apparatus generates an SSS, wherein the SSS signal comprises a sequence of OFDM symbols, wherein each symbol of the sequence of SSS symbols is mapped to a codeword symbol of an FEC code. Source symbols of the sequence of SSS symbols carry a PCID and frame timing information, and parity symbols of the sequence of SSS symbols introduce redundancy and coding gain. A receiver receives the NB-SSS over multiple OFDM symbols, each symbol of the SSS comprising a short ZC sequence with a combination of root index and cyclic shift. The apparatus derives path metrics using cross-correlation for each of the plurality of symbols, determines a candidate SSS source message based on the derived path metrics and coding constraints of FEC codewords, and identifies a PCID and timing information based on the candidate SSS source message.

A system capable of synchronizing clocks on separate devices despite variable delays between the separate devices. The system may compensate for skew (e.g., difference between clocks) and drift (e.g., frequency offset between clocks). The system may determine the skew and drift based on differences between timestamps when packets are sent from a first device to a second device and vice versa. For example, the system may estimate a first line corresponding to the fastest packets from the first device to the second device and may estimate a second line corresponding to the fastest packets from the second device to the first device. The system may determine the skew based on a midpoint between the first line and the second line, and the drift based on a slope of the first line or the second line.

The present invention discloses a signal communication method having re-sampling mechanism that includes steps outlined below. Sampled data of a data signal is obtained. A time difference between an actual sampling time point and an ideal sampling time point is calculated. A closet time point closest to the ideal sampling time point within a sampling time interval is selected. Operation sampled data within a predetermined range around the target sampled data is selected from the sampled data. A group of response terms are retrieved from a pre-stored lookup table according to the closest time point to substitute the response terms and the time difference into a parameter calculation equation to generate a group of re-sampling response parameters. A calculation is performed based on the operation sampled data and the re-sampling response parameters to generate a re-sampled value of the target sampled data.
