CARDIOSPHERE-DERIVED CELLS (CDCS) AS THERAPEUTIC AGENTS FOR PULMONARY HYPERTENSION
Described herein are compositions and techniques for treatment of disease and conditions such as pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Unlike palliative or preventive measures that do not address the abnormal vasculature causing onset of right ventricular compensation the use of stem cell-based therapy can directly impact the microvascular pathology in PAH, thereby reversing the course of the disease.
Oral tissue regeneration and repair
A method for treating an oral condition of a subject by grafting cultured tissue constructs to the oral tissue. The cultured tissue constructs comprise cultured cells and endogenously produced extracellular matrix components without the requirement of exogenous matrix components or network support or scaffold members. Some tissue constructs of the invention are comprised of multiple cell layers or more than one cell type. The tissue constructs of the invention have morphological features and functions similar to tissues their cells are derived and their strength makes them easily handleable. Preferred cultured tissue constructs of the invention comprise cells derived from human tissue.
MATERIALS WITH IMPROVED PROPERTIES
Products, such as devices, prostheses, and materials, whose surfaces have been modified in order to impart beneficial properties to these products are disclosed. The surface-modified products have improved biocompatibility compared to a corresponding product that lacks the modification. Following implantation in a subject, the surface-modified products induce a lower foreign-body response, compared to a corresponding unmodified product.
CELL SHEET COMPOSITION FOR INHIBITING PROGRESSION OF RENAL DISORDER, METHOD OF PRODUCING THE SAME, AND METHOD OF INHIBITING PROGRESSION OF RENAL DISORDER USING THE SAME
The present invention provides a method of inhibiting progression of or preventing renal disorder, the method comprising applying a cell sheet composition for inhibiting progression of or preventing renal disorder to at least one part of the surface of a kidney, wherein the part of the surface is uncovered by a fibrous capsule of the kidney. The present invention also provides a cell sheet composition for inhibiting progression of or preventing renal disorder, the cell sheet composition comprising a cell that has a function of producing a hepatocyte growth factor (HGF). The present invention also provides a method of producing a cell sheet composition for inhibiting progression of or preventing renal disorder.
Method for producing mixed cell population of cardiomyocytes and vascular cells from induced pluripotent stem cell
The present invention provides: a method for producing mixed cells comprising cardiomyocytes, endothelial cells and mural cells from induced pluripotent stem cells, the method comprising (a) a step of producing cardiomyocytes from induced pluripotent stem cells and (b) a step of culturing the cardiomyocytes in the presence of VEGF; and a therapeutic agent for heart diseases, comprising the mixed cells produced by the method.
Methods and Compositions for Treating Ovarian Failure
Methods and compositions for treating ovarian failure are provided. In one embodiment, the method includes administering stem cells into the ovary of a female subject in need of such treatment. The stem cells are preferably bone marrow derived stem cells (BMSC). In other embodiments, the stem cells are embryonic stem cells, adult stem cells, induced stem cells, induced pluripotent stem cells, umbilical cord blood cells, or combinations thereof. The stem cells can be autologous or heterologous. In one embodiment, the stem cells have the following surface marker profile: CD105 positive, CD166 positive, CD90 positive, and CD73 positive as well as CD14 negative, CD34 negative, CD45 negative, HLA-DR negative, and CD 19 negative. The stem cells are administered in an amount effective to restore ovarian hormone production and promote folliculogenesis.
WOUND CARE TREATMENT AND METHODS OF MAKING AND USING SAME
A method of treating a wound including applying a wound care treatment to the wound, the wound care treatment including a preparation composed of morselized amnion tissue and amniotic fluid cells adsorbed to a porous collagen matrix and optionally, glycosaminoglycan. The morselized amnion tissue includes organized amniotic extracellular matrix (ECM), amniotic tissue cells and growth factors contained within the ECM and amniotic tissue cells. The porous collagen matrix is provided as a solid sheet, a meshed or perforated sheet or a flowable material.
CLINICAL-GRADE AUTOLOGOUS BRONCHIAL BASAL CELL, DELIVERABLE FORMULATION, AND PREPARATION PROCESS
Provided are a clinical-grade autologous bronchial basal cell, a deliverable formulation thereof, and a preparation process. The preparation process comprises the following steps: acquiring and digesting an in vitro active bronchoscopic brushed-off biopsy tissue, and collecting cells after digestion is terminated; plating the digested cells on a culture plate pre-coated with feeder layer cells, collecting the cultured cells to perform amplification culture on a culture plate pre-coated with feeder layer cells, and when the cells grow to cover 50%-90% of the surface area of the culture plate, performing cell passage operation; and when passaged culture cells grow to cover 85%-95% of the surface area of a culture dish, digesting and collecting adhered cells, and washing. The clinical-grade bronchial basal cell prepared by this method can differentiate stably after the cells reach the lesion and significantly achieve the damaged lung tissue regeneration.
In-situ formed intervertebral fusion device and method
An orthopedic device for implanting between adjacent vertebrae comprising: an arcuate balloon and a hardenable material within said balloon. In some embodiments, the balloon has a footprint that substantially corresponds to a perimeter of a vertebral endplate. An inflatable device is inserted through a cannula into an intervertebral space and oriented so that, upon expansion, a natural angle between vertebrae will be at least partially restored. At least one component selected from the group consisting of a load-bearing component and an osteobiologic component is directed into the inflatable device through a fluid communication means.
Method and use of cryopreserved mesenchymal stem cells via liquid suspension from the amniotic sac for rejuvenation of the midface
The present technology relates to a method of augmenting soft facial tissue in a human subject using a liquid suspension including amnion allograft. Analysis of the changes to midface volume, specifically the Ogee curve, observed in the chronological progression of photographs illustrates aesthetic improvements in both Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) and amnion allograft treatment groups, with changes in the facial grading scale. Less patient downtime and slightly more rapid improvements were noted in the amnion group in comparison to PRP treatment participants. As a result, the amnion allograft provides advantages over the PRP procedure.
