RELIABLE COMMUNICATIONS USING A POINT TO POINT PROTOCOL
This disclosure describes techniques for performing communications between devices using various aspects of Ethernet standards. As further described herein, a protocol is disclosed that may be used for communications between devices, where the communications take place over a physical connection complying with Ethernet standards. Such a protocol may enable reliable and in-order delivery of frames between devices, while following Ethernet physical layer rules, Ethernet symbol encoding, Ethernet lane alignment, and/or Ethernet frame formats.
System and method for automatic appliance configuration and operability
In one embodiment, a cloud connection appliance features a processor and a non-transitory storage medium. The non-transitory storage medium comprises management control logic, that when executed by the processor, controls registration with a controller adapted to control data traffic between gateway instance and to establish a communication path including a reverse tunnel with the controller. The controller and cloud connection appliance operate in a client-server relationship with the cloud connection appliance operates as a client when establishing the communication path and operates as a server when receiving control information through the reverse tunnel. The reverse tunnel enables the cloud connection appliance to directly receive the control information from the controller despite the cloud connection application lacking a publicly routable Internet Protocol (IP) address.
Methods and apparatus for sharing and arbitration of host stack information with user space communication stacks
Methods and apparatus for efficient data transfer within a user space network stack. Unlike prior art monolithic networking stacks, the exemplary networking stack architecture described hereinafter includes various components that span multiple domains (both in-kernel, and non-kernel). For example, unlike traditional “socket” based communication, disclosed embodiments can transfer data directly between the kernel and user space domains. Direct transfer reduces the per-byte and per-packet costs relative to socket based communication. A user space networking stack is disclosed that enables extensible, cross-platform-capable, user space control of the networking protocol stack functionality. The user space networking stack facilitates tighter integration between the protocol layers (including TLS) and the application or daemon. Exemplary systems can support multiple networking protocol stack instances (including an in-kernel traditional network stack).
ASSOCIATING A USER IDENTIFIER DETECTED FROM WEB TRAFFIC WITH A CLIENT ADDRESS
In one embodiment, a device in a network receives a set of known user identifiers used in the network. The device receives web traffic log data regarding web traffic in the network. The web traffic log data includes header information captured from the web traffic and a plurality of client addresses associated with the web traffic. The device detects a particular one of the set of known user identifiers in the header information captured from the web traffic associated with a particular one of the plurality of client addresses. The device makes an association between the particular detected user identifier and the particular client address.
METHODS, DEVICES, AND SYSTEMS FOR DETERMINING A SUBSET FOR AUTONOMOUS SHARING OF DIGITAL MEDIA
Methods, systems, and devices for determining a subset of users from among a set of users based on a set of received information associated with a photograph, where the disposition of the information is used to first determine the subset and then perform facial recognition on the subset of photographs for each user in order to accurately identify each user or users present in the photograph.
Configurable parser and a method for parsing information units
A packet processing technique can include selecting a protocol field from the packet, and performing a comparison of the selected protocol field with comparison data in a compare logic array to output a protocol index. The protocol index can be used as an address to read parsing commands from a parse control table, and a parse result can be generated based on executing the parsing commands on the packet. The parse results are used to derive a parse result vector, which can be used by a forwarding engine to forward the packet.
Network application program product and method for processing application layer protocol
A network application program product and a method for processing an application layer protocol are provided. The network application program product includes a network application program executed in a user mode and a packet filtering module executed in a kernel mode. The network application program transmits connection information, associated with network connection to the network application program, to the packet filtering module. The packet filtering module captures a to-be-processed packet on the network connection according to the connection information; analyzes the to-be-processed packet into at least one protocol data unit; compares the protocol data unit with preset code content; and transmits the protocol data unit to the network application program or the data access module according to the comparison result for later processing.
Method and apparatus for receiving data packets
A receiver receives a data packet with a header and a payload. The payload includes at least one full service data unit, one or two service data unit fragments, or at least one full service data unit and at least one service data unit fragment, where a service data unit fragment is only located (i) at the beginning of the payload or at the end of the payload or (ii) at the beginning of the payload and at the end of the payload. The header includes a single field consisting of a first bit and a second bit, even when a number of full service data units and service data unit fragments in the payload is more than two, the single field indicating whether (i) the payload begins with a fragment of a service data unit and (ii) the payload ends with a service data unit fragment. Digital signal processing circuitry processes the header to determine processing for the payload.
Machine-to-machine protocol indication and negotiation
Network entities may indicate and negotiate one or more new protocols for communications using a current protocol. Indications may include one or more protocols which are supported, one or more protocols which are preferred, and the level of desire of preferences. Indications may further include schedules of times during which certain protocols are supported and/or schedules of functions for which certain protocols are preferred. Indications may be evaluated and acted upon immediately or stored for future reference. Evaluation may include comparison of relative desire levels and needs of various entities. Protocols may be messaging protocols, transport protocols, or combinations thereof.
