The multi-protocol eventing layer includes a converged container capable of handling multiple types of protocols to manage events while using an open source database. Accordingly, the multi-protocol eventing layer efficiently provides real-time or near real-time eventing to a plurality of devices for scalability and performance enhancement.

Communication system, communication apparatus, and protection method

A communication system includes two or more ring networks in which nodes are connected in a ring shape, carries out ERP for each of the ring networks, sets one of the ring networks as a major ring that detects a failure in a shared link, and sets the other ring networks as sub rings. A shared node, which terminates the shared link, includes: a failure monitoring unit that respectively detects, concerning two or more of the ring networks that share the shared link, failures in the ring networks; a switching processing unit that determines, on the basis of a detection result of the failures, the ring network set as the major ring; and ERP processing units that store, when the switching is performed by the switching processing unit, identification information after the switching in an R-APS frame and transfer or transmit the frame.

Phased network formation for power restoration

In one embodiment, a device receives a router advertisement message after a power outage event in a network. The device joins the network, in response to receiving the router advertisement message. The device sends a power restoration notification message via the network. The device selectively delays a disconnected node from joining the network.

Effective service node traffic routing

The present describes a traffic routing system to establish a connection with a primary service location, receive a list of service location peers from the primary service location, execute a performance test of the primary service location and each of the service location peers, identify a best performing service location based at least in part on the performance test, and update a database with results of the performance test of the primary service location and each of the service location peers. The traffic routing system may use business rules to expand the criteria to identify the best performing service location. The business rules may include weights that prioritize certain performance characteristics of corresponding service locations including bandwidth cost, energy cost, or idle capacity.

Node failure detection and resolution in distributed databases

Methods and systems to detect and resolve failure in a distributed database system is described herein. A first node in the distributed database system can detect an interruption in communication with at least one other node in the distributed database system. This indicates a network failure. In response to detection of this failure, the first node starts a failure resolution protocol. This invokes coordinated broadcasts of respective lists of suspicious nodes among neighbor nodes. Each node compares its own list of suspicious nodes with its neighbors' lists of suspicious nodes to determine which nodes are still directly connected to each other. Each node determines the largest group of these directly connected nodes and whether or not it is in that group. If a node isn't in that group, it fails itself to resolve the network failure.
