Power delivery through an optical system

In one embodiment, a method includes receiving power delivered over a data fiber cable at an optical transceiver installed at a network communications device and transmitting data and the power from the optical transceiver to the network communications device. The network communications device is powered by the power received from the optical transceiver. An apparatus is also disclosed herein.

Systems and methods for intelligent power distribution

Methods and systems for providing intelligent power distribution. A distribution point unit is connected to a plurality of user units in a telecommunications system. A loss of power to the distribution point unit is detected. It is determined that at least one user unit has backup power. Based on a determination that at least one user unit has backup power, a power mode for the distribution point unit is selected. The power mode is implemented on the distribution point unit.

A surge protection circuit and a terminal are provided. The surge protection circuit is configured to be coupled to a charge management unit. The surge protection circuit includes a voltage stabilizing circuit and a connecting circuit. The voltage stabilizing circuit is configured to be coupled with a system power supply end of the charge management unit. The voltage stabilizing circuit is configured to stable the voltage at the system power supply end of the charge management unit. The connecting circuit has an input end configured to be coupled with the power supply unit-connection end of the charge management unit. The connecting circuit has an output end configured to be coupled with the system power supply end of the charge management unit. The connecting circuit is configured to be turned on when the voltage at the power supply unit-connection end exceeds a voltage threshold.

Method and apparatus for providing electrical power to a broadband digital subscriber line access

Power is supplied to telecom equipment in DSLAM outdoor/remote cabinets with relatively short distances between the subscriber and the cabinet. All of the subscriber Customer Premises Equipment connected to the DSLAM each provide a portion of the required power to the remote cabinet via the telephone line connecting the DSLAM and the subscriber CPE. The CPE at the subscriber premises is already connected to power mains in the subscriber premises so, providing power, via the telephone line to the outdoor cabinet is relatively simple. The remote cabinet includes a circuit for receiving the power input from each subscriber and then distributing the power, required by the DSLAM load, equally among the subscribers.
