MANAGING SPOOFED CALLS TO MOBILE DEVICES

Methods and apparatuses for managing spoofed calls to a mobile device are described, in which the mobile device receives a call transmitted over a cellular or mobile network. The call may include a set of information associated with the network, such as a geological location of a device that generated the call, a hardware device identifier corresponding to the device, an internet protocol (IP) address associated with the device, or a combination thereof. The mobile device may determine whether the call is spoofed or genuine based on the set of information. Subsequently, the mobile device may assist a user of the mobile device to manage the call, such as blocking the call from reaching the user, informing the user that the call is spoofed, facilitating the user to report the call as spoofed to an authority and/or a service provider of the network.

Dynamic secondary phone book

A mobile communication device is equipped with a dynamic local directory into which contact information from a local telephone directory may be downloaded on a temporary basis. The local telephone directory resides on a local communication network and may be accessed by the mobile communication device. The downloaded data is purged automatically after preset limits are reached. The dynamic local telephone directory on the mobile communication device is continuously changing depending on the location.

Content publishing systems and methods

A system for publishing digital content is described which, in one embodiment, includes a beacon device associated with a first user configured to transmit identification information and information indicating its current position. A browsing device includes a display configured and adapted to display to a second user a representation of a local geographical area, and to selectively display to the second user content information associated with the first user, based at least in part on whether the location of the beacon device is within the local geographical area.

Call center mobile messaging

A method and system enables communications with a call center via SMS/MMS and provides an additional communications channel to communicate with the call center in addition to voice, Internet email/IM chat and fax. The call center obtains location information and images from a customer using SMS messages and web pages via a messaging hub.

Prior caller location and identity as input into a public-safety answering point (PSAP)

A method and apparatus for providing prior-caller location and/or identity into a public-safety answering point is provided herein. During operation, a device such as a smart phone will store location and identity information for recently-received calls. If the device places a call to a PSAP within a predetermined amount of time from when the prior call was received at the device, a flag is sent to the PSAP operator notifying the PSAP operator of the prior call. The PSAP operator can then inquire about the prior call. The caller is then allowed to electronically transfer location and identity information related to the prior call to the PSAP operator if they wish to do so.

Automatic routing using search results

In general, the subject matter described in this specification can be embodied in methods, systems, and program products for providing search results automatically to a user of a computing device. A spoken input provided by a user to a computing device is received. The spoken input is transmitted to a computer server system that is remote from the computing device. Search result information that is responsive to the spoken input is receiving by the computing device and in response to the transmitted spoken input. An alert is provided to the user that the device will connect the user to a target of the search result information if the user does not intervene to stop the connecting of the user. The user is connected to the target of the search result information based on a determination that the user has not intervened to stop the connecting of the user.

SYSTEM, METHOD, AND COMPUTER-READABLE MEDIUM FOR STREAMING REAL-TIME DATA FROM A USER DEVICE

A method comprising obtaining a phone number of a mobile device used to make an emergency call through a first connection. The method also can include transmitting a uniform resource locator (URL) link to the mobile device through a second connection based on the phone number. The second connection is different from the first connection. The URL link enables a user of the mobile device to establish a WebRTC (Web Real-Time Communication) session through a web browser on the mobile device. The method additionally can include receiving a real-time video stream from the mobile device through the WebRTC session. The method further can include sending the real-time video stream to be displayed on a screen of a recipient. The real-time video stream is associated with an identifier for the mobile device. Other embodiments are described.

METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR SITUATIONAL AWARENESS FOR EMERGENCY RESPONSE

Disclosed are systems and methods for sending emergency alerts. In some embodiments, sensors and wearable devices may trigger and send the emergency alerts and/or warning signals via available communication devices. Multi-media emergency alerts are also disclosed that include situational awareness information for effective and efficient emergency response.

A method and system are disclosed for determining the geographic location of a user communicating on a communications network such as the Internet. In one embodiment, a provider of a product or service: (a) receives the user's phone number (or other identification for contacting the user's station), and (b) supplies the user's station with a distinctive identifier. The provider then supplies a location determining service with the user's phone number (or other identification). A phone call is made to the phone number by the location determining service for retrieving the distinctive identifier from the network station having the phone number. If the distinctive identifier is retrieved and the location determining service determines that the user's station is within an appropriate geographical area (or not within an inappropriate area), then the provider can provide the requested product or service to the user.
