In accordance with a determination that the input corresponds to selection of the application affordance, the device displays a plurality of application launch icons for a plurality of corresponding applications within the messaging user interface.

A method for automatically creating a short message and a portable terminal using the same includes extracting at least one word expected to be input from a database provided in the portable terminal when a message creation menu is selected. At least one input expected word that has been extracted is then displayed. At least one word that is recognized is selected from among the displayed at least one input expected word; and inputting the selected word to a text message creation window. A user can create a short message without having to input words one-by-one through a keyboard.

Disclosed is a display apparatus including: a display; a communicator; a storage; and a processor configured to obtain state information about one or more electronic apparatuses, select a first electronic apparatus, among the one or more electronic apparatuses, based on the obtained state information of the first electronic apparatus satisfying a predetermined criteria, transmit a connection request signal to the first electronic apparatus through the communicator along with information about a function to be performed by the display apparatus based on a user input, connect with the first electronic apparatus and receive a user input from the first electronic apparatus through the communicator, and execute the function based on the received user input.
