A client apparatus that communicates with a management server to receive an instruction from the management server, and a power supply of the client apparatus transitions to a sleep state when the client apparatus does not receive a user operation for a certain time period, and after the power supply of the client apparatus transitions to the sleep state, the power supply of the client apparatus temporarily transitions to a normal state without receiving a user operation. After the client apparatus communicates with the management server, the power supply of the client apparatus transitions from the normal state to the sleep state.

An information processing apparatus and method is provided and controls execution of learning processing thereon. Learning data are generated in which readings of a human presence sensor serve as input values, information on receiving or not receiving any operation from an operation panel serves as success/failure flags. An image forming apparatus includes an image forming section, a first detecting section, a second detecting section, a display section, and a control section. The first detecting section detects a person present within a predetermined range from the image forming apparatus. The second detecting section detects an eye gaze of the person detected by the first detecting section. When, during a power saving state of the image forming apparatus, the first detecting section detects a person and the second detecting section detects an eye gaze of the person directed in a predetermined direction, the control section wakes up the image forming apparatus from the power saving state and allows the display section to display a predetermined screen according to the direction of the person's eye gaze detected by the second detecting section.

An electronic device, such as a digital camera, includes a deletion mode whereby a camera/electronic device user can delete captured images or data files that have already been transferred in order to make room in the electronic device or digital camera memory for capturing further images. In one embodiment, a digital camera keeps track of which images have already been transferred to an external storage device and presents those to the user as potential images to be deleted. In another embodiment, the user is presented with a delete all transferred images which when selected deletes all the captured images that have already been transferred. In still another embodiment, deletion criteria are used to prioritize which images are deleted first.

An information processing device which can communicate over a network with a print control apparatus for activating a second interface unit when a print job is applied to a printer in a power-saving status which is to be activated by a specific packet, and when an first activation instruction including identification information specifying a print control apparatus to be activated is received through a first interface unit includes: first instruction control means for transmitting a first activation instruction to the print control apparatus when a print instruction is issued; and output control means for outputting a print job to the print control apparatus after establishing a communication facility of the second interface unit after transmitting the first activation instruction.

A communication apparatus for performing automatic reception processing of a calling signal received on a telephone line, by power supplied from a first power supply, includes an image processing unit, a detection unit, a counting unit, and a power supply control unit. The image processing unit performs image processing on image data received over the telephone line, by power supplied from a second power supply. The detection unit detects a calling signal received on the telephone line, by power supplied from the first power supply, while power supplied from the second power supply is stopped. The counting unit counts the number of calling signals detected by the detection unit. The power supply control unit starts supply of power from the second power supply on the basis that the number of detected calling signals counted by the counting unit reaches a predetermined number.
